Commonwealth Games: Boxer Lovlina Borgohain aims to win Gold at Birmingham 2022

After making India proud at the Tokyo Olympics, boxer Lovlina Borgohain will aim to emulate her form at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.

The Olympic Bronze medallist boxer failed to secure a medal in the previous edition of the Commonwealth Games as she was knocked out in the quarterfinals at Gold Coast 2018.

However, the 24-year-old boxer shed the horror of the Commonwealth Games thereafter and clinched a Bronze at the 2019 World Boxing Championships.

Such was her meteoric rise in international boxing since then that she claimed a Bronze at World's biggest sporting extravaganza.

However, her form saw a slump after the Tokyo Olympics. She was knocked out of the 2022 World Championship in the pre-quarterfinals. After the World Championship's disappointment, Lovlina stated that no one learns from wins but from defeats.

She walked the talk and sealed a CWG 2022 spot in the 70-kg category by winning the trials, conducted by the Indian Boxing Federation.

With Olympics Gold being her career goal, Borgohain aims to become a champion at the Commonwealth Games first before moving to her future endeavours.

Lovlina Borgohain's key achievements:

Won Bronze at Tokyo Olympics
Bronze in 2021 Dubai Asian Championships
Bronze in 2019 Ulan-Ude World Championships
Bronze in 2018 New World Championships
Won Bronze in 2017 Ho Chi Minh City Asian Championships
2020 Arjuna Award
