Ind vs Eng: Rohit Sharma surpasses Virat Kohli after 13th successive T20I win

Indian captain Rohit Sharma made a triumphant comeback against England after recovering from Covid-19.

Keeping up with his winning streak in the shortest format of the game, the 35-year-old skipper led Team India to a record-extending 13th T20I victory on the trot.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the 3-match T20I series against England with a 50-run win, Rohit became the first skipper in the history of the format to win 13 successive games.

After Virat Kohli relinquished the T20I captaincy, Rohit Sharma took up the job. Since then, he has led team India to a 3-0 win against New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka.

Before he became a full-time captain, Rohit led team India to victory in the 5th T20I vs NZ in Feb 2020 and also won against Bangladesh in the 2nd and 3rd T20I in Nov 2019.

Since taking up the captaincy duties, the 35-year-old has led the Men in Blue to 15 consecutive victories across all formats.

In doing so, Rohit also surpassed Virat Kohli's numbers. Until October 2021, the ex-skipper was the fastest captain to reach 1000-run mark in 30 innings. After Babar Azam breached it in 24 innings, Rohit Sharma has now outclassed his predecessor by achieving the feat in 29 innings, a new India record.

Team India will face England in the next game of the 3-match series on Saturday.
