IPL 2022, DC vs RCB: Hazlewood, Karthik shine as Bangalore beat Delhi by 16 runs

A clinical effort from Royal Challengers Bangalore helped them to register their 4th win in IPL 2022, as they defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 16 runs at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.

Chasing a 190-run target, Delhi were off to a flying start as David Warner and Prithvi Shaw put a 50-run stand. Warner then took Bangalore bowlers to cleaners and he went on to score his fifty. But a sluggish approach by Mitchell Marsh in the middle overs took out a lot of pace from the chase.

Then, Rishabh Pant's 17-ball 34 put Delhi's chase back on track. But his power-packed inning was cut short by Virat Kohli's one-handed stunner. After that, Bangalore kept taking wickets at regular intervals and finally, Delhi fell short by 16 runs. Josh Hazlewood emerged as the most successful bowler for RCB as he took three wickets.

Earlier, Delhi bowlers performed like a well-oiled unit initially but they leaked too many easy runs in the death overs as Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed added 74 in the last five. Karthik, who has been revelation in his role as a finisher this season, hit five fours and as many sixes in his sensational 66-run knock.
