Andre Russell clears the air about KKR coach Chandrakant Pandit after David Wiese's scathing remarks

While David Wiese did not explicitly name Chandrakant Pandit, he addressed him as the 'new coach' who joined KKR last year.

Andre Russell clears the air about KKR coach Chandrakant Pandit after David Wiese's scathing remarks

In the wake of David Wiese's critical comments about Kolkata Knight Riders' head coach, Chandrakant Pandit, referring to him as 'a militant coach', the team's dynamic all-rounder Andre Russell has come forward to provide clarity on the situation.

Addressing the media before KKR's upcoming game against RCB, Russell shared insights into his experience working with Pandit since last year, painting a different picture than the one portrayed by Wiese.

Russell expressed his respect and understanding for Pandit's coaching style, stating, "Working with him from last year, we got to know the type of person he is and that made things a lot easier for us."

He emphasized the importance of adapting to a coach's philosophy and the professional adjustments that come with it, suggesting a positive working relationship with Pandit.

"When you work with a coach in the first year, you have to make sure you have to trust their philosophy…we have to do certain things as professionals. It’s been going good," Russell elaborated.

The controversy began when Wiese, during a podcast, made allegations about Pandit's coaching approach.

Without directly naming Pandit, Wiese described the 'new coach' who joined last year as being overly strict and disciplinarian, saying, "He is known in India as a very militant type of coach. He is very strict, very disciplinarian and that type of stuff."

Chandrakant Pandit, who took over the reins of KKR in 2023 following Brendon McCullum's departure, is well recognised for his stringent coaching methods in the domestic circuit.
