DC vs MI: Delhi batters pummel Mumbai, set massive 258-run target in IPL 2024

The Delhi Capitals set the Arun Jaitley Stadium alight by posting their highest-ever IPL total of 257 runs in their allotted 20 overs against the Mumbai Indians. The innings was marked by a breathtaking performance from Jake Fraser-McGurk, whose explosive batting laid the groundwork for Delhi's monumental score.

The 22-year-old opener, Fraser-McGurk, took center stage with a stellar 27-ball 84, setting the tone for the Capitals' innings right after they were sent in to bat. His remarkable knock featured a barrage of boundaries that left the Mumbai bowlers scrambling for answers. While Fraser-McGurk was the main architect of the high score, he was well-supported by his teammates.

Abishek Porel, partnering with Fraser-McGurk at the top, contributed a solid 27-ball 36, helping to build a strong foundation for the innings. Following the openers, Shai Hope kept up the momentum with a rapid 17-ball 41, ensuring that the Capitals did not lose steam in their batting onslaught.

The captain, Rishabh Pant, played a swift cameo that added further impetus to Delhi's innings. The finishing touches were provided by Tristan Stubbs, who smashed an unbeaten 48 off just 25 balls, propelling Delhi past the 250-run landmark, a feat that underscored their batting depth and prowess.

The Mumbai Indians' bowling attack struggled to contain the Capitals' hitters. Except for Jasprit Bumrah and Piyush Chawla, who managed to stem the flow of runs to some extent, the other bowlers faced severe punishment. Hardik Pandya was notably expensive, conceding 41 runs in just two overs. Luke Wood and Nuwan Thushara also had tough outings, giving away 68 and 56 runs respectively from their four-over quotas.
