IPL 2022: Ajinkya Rahane set to miss remaining IPL season, upcoming England tour with injury

Kolkata Knight Riders' opener Ajinkya Rahane is set to leave the IPL 2022 bio-bubble due to a hamstring injury, as per reports. Rahane who has had a forgettable outing in the ongoing season injured himself during Kolkata's last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad which they won by 54 runs.

Ajinkya Rahane has only scored 133 runs in 7 games for Kolkata Knight Riders. Reportedly, the 33-year-old will now travel to NCA, Bangalore for rehabilitation. Moreover, his injury might further cost him his place in India's upcoming tour of England. Rahane may not be eligible for selection for the single Test match that India will play against England in the first week of July.

The injury might turn out to be a career-threatening blow for Rahane who has already been fighting to secure his spot in the Indian Test team. With Shreyas Iyer and Hanuma Vihari performing for the Indian team in the middle order, it will be difficult for Rahane to make a comeback after his recovery from the injury.

As far as KKR is concerned, the team has only 1 league remaining. They have lost 7 out of 13 matches this season and are sitting at the 6th position on the table.
