IPL 2022, DC vs KKR: Shardul, Powell guide Delhi to 4 wickets win over Kolkata

Delhi Capitals(DC) extended Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR)' miseries in IPL 2022 as Rishabh Pant-led side defeated the Men in Purple by 4 wickets at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday. This was Kolkata's fifth consecutive loss this season.

Chasing a modest 147-run target, Umesh Yadav wreaked havoc upfront and removed Prithvi Shaw off the first delivery. But David Warner and Lalit Yadav put Delhi's inning back on track after the dismissal of Mitchell Marsh. Lalit and Warner added 65 runs for the third wicket before Umesh Yadav returned again in the middle overs. He removed Warner and Rishabh Pant in quick succession. Then Rovman Powell stitched valuable partnerships with first Axar Patel and finally with Shardul Thakur and took Delhi over the line.

Earlier, Kolkata were off to a horrid start and lost wickets in heaps. Kuldeep Yadav was the chief architect of KKR's slide again once again after Chetan Sakariya provided an early breakthrough. Kuldeep weaved his magic and got four wickets, including captain Shreyas Iyer and Andre Russell. Nitish Rana then came to rescue for the Men in Purple and smashed a counter-attacking 57 runs off 34 balls. Mustafizur picked three wickets in the last over as Kolkata managed to score 146-9.
