IPL 2022: 'No doubt about it...': Ponting sees Rishabh Pant as Team India's future captain

As Delhi Capitals are gearing up for their IPL 2022 clash, head coach Ricky Ponting believes that Rishabh Pant will become a successful Team India captain if he gets the job in the future.

"With some experience in a role like this in such a high-pressure tournament like the IPL, I've got no doubt in years to come there is every chance that Rishabh could become an international captain. No doubt about it," Ponting said in a virtual press conference.

Ponting also feels that Pant can emulate what Rohit Sharma has done as a captain. The veteran Aussie saw the growth of Rohit Sharma from the close quarters when he was associated with Mumbai Indians.

"There is every opportunity for Rishabh's journey to be quite similar to Rohit Sharma. Hopefully, Rishabh can have the same sort of success that Rohit had in Mumbai Indians," Ponting added.
