IPL 2022: 'Will not have to begin from scratch again', MSD praises Mukesh Choudhary, Matheesha Pathirana

The defending Champions, Chennai Super Kings had a horrific 2022 IPL season as the MS Dhoni-led-side was eliminated quite early in the ongoing season. While the Yellow Brigade bowed out of the season with a 5-wicket defeat against Rajasthan, the skipper was evidently positive about the next season.

Impressed by the likes of Mukesh Choudhary, Matheesha Pathirana, and Prashant Solanki, Dhoni said that once they play next year, they will not have to start from scratch again. Praising Mukesh Choudhary who collected 16 wickets in 13 outings, MSD highlighted that the 25-year-old has only improved in every game. 'Whatever games he has got, he has improved', Dhoni said.

Lauding Pathirana, Dhoni said, 'our Malinga is really good, it is difficult to pick him and I feel he will definitely contribute next year for CSK, in a big way'.

In the post-match, head coach Stephen Fleming said, 'we had a slow start and we just weren't able to string enough games together. We had opportunities. There's no doubt we had opportunities to do better than what we did. But the reality is we weren't good enough to make the semi-finals this year, and that's always a catalyst for next year. presentation, Stephen Fleming accepted that his team's performance was not up to the mark'

CSK ended the season in the 9 spot with only 4 out of 14 wins this season.
