IPL 2024: DC vs GT preview - Form guide, head-to-head record, team changes, weather, probable XI

The Delhi Capitals, led by Rishabh Pant, are set to face the Gujarat Titans in a crucial IPL 2024 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, aiming to bounce back after a challenging outing against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Positioned just two points behind the Gujarat Titans in the standings, a victory in this upcoming match would allow Delhi to surpass their rivals on the points table.

The last encounter between the Delhi Capitals and the Gujarat Titans ended favourably for Pant’s team, giving them a confidence boost as they prepare for this rematch. However, their most recent performance against SRH highlighted significant weaknesses in their bowling attack, as they allowed the opposition to rack up a massive total of 266. This was largely due to the formidable batting by Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, who annihilated the Capitals' bowlers in the powerplay.

The Delhi Capitals are particularly eager to see improvements from their pacers, who will need to step up if the team hopes to contain the Titans' lineup. The previous victory over the Titans provides a psychological edge and a tactical blueprint for success, suggesting that a well-executed strategy could lead to another win.

On the other side, the Gujarat Titans are coming into this game with momentum from a narrow victory over Punjab, clinched in the final over with Rahul Tewatia playing the hero once again. However, consistent performances from their batters remain a concern for the Titans. Apart from Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, who have shown some promise, the rest of the batting lineup has struggled to make significant impacts. Sudharsan, however, has also failed to convert his starts into bigger scores, a factor that could be crucial in the upcoming match.

Team news

Ishant Sharma, who was ruled out of the clash against SRH just minutes before the toss due to a back spasm, should return to the lineup. While Ishant is expected to replace Lalit Yadav, DC will most likely play Shai Hope in the place of Anrich Nortje as their fourth overseas star.

For Gujarat, Shahrukh Khan has hardly made any impact and will likely be replaced by Vijay Shankar or Abhinav Manohar. Even Azmatullah Omarzai might make way for Spencer Johnson.

Head-to-Head record

The two teams have locked horns 4 times in the past, with the head-to-head score currently at 2 each. In their last meeting only a week back, the Capitals defeated GT by 6 wickets, where Shubman Gill's men were bundled out for just 89.

Weather Report

It will be a hot day in Delhi with temperatures nearing the 40°C mark. The evening will be slightly cooler but only just.
