IPL 2024: DC vs KKR preview - Form guide, head-to-head record, team news, weather report, probable XI

Prithvi Shaw's inclusion worked wonders against the Chennai Super Kings and the Delhi Capitals will be hoping for another solid start from their opening duo of Warner and Shaw.

IPL 2024: DC vs KKR preview - Form guide, head-to-head record, team news, weather report, probable XI

Delhi Capitals (DC) are set to showcase their burgeoning prowess against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), a team aiming for a trio of triumphs, in match no. 16 of IPL 2024. Following a convincing victory over the Chennai Super Kings, DC are determined to demonstrate that their success is more than mere luck, positioning themselves as serious contenders in the league.

Under Rishabh Pant's leadership, DC clinched their first two points of the season, exhibiting a well-rounded performance against CSK. The synergy between the team's batsmen and bowlers was evident, setting a high standard for the matches ahead.

The spotlight will once again fall on Prithvi Shaw and David Warner, whose partnership at the top is crucial for setting a strong foundation. The team also looks towards Tristan Stubbs and Mitchell Marsh to amplify their attack, especially in the absence of domestic power hitters.

Pant's leadership and performance have been inspirational. After a slow start to the season, he hit form with a dynamic fifty (51 off 32 balls), hinting at a return to his explosive best.

However, DC's bowling lineup faces challenges, particularly with Anrich Nortje still searching for his form post-recovery from an injury. This puts additional pressure on DC's domestic pacers to step up against KKR's formidable batting lineup.

KKR, on the other hand, have made an impressive start to the season, securing victories in their opening matches. The team's batting has looked extremely good, presenting a formidable challenge for DC's bowlers.

KKR's captain, Shreyas Iyer, has also found his rhythm, contributing valuable runs in their victory against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Despite their overall strong start, KKR's bowling has shown vulnerability, with Mitchell Starc and Varun Chakravarthy conceding runs. Rookie Harshit Rana, however, has emerged as a promising talent, capturing five wickets across two games.

Sunil Narine's role as an opener adds an intriguing dynamic to KKR's strategy, but he'll be tested against DC's pace battery, including Nortje, Khaleel, Mukesh, and Ishant, who are eager to exploit any weaknesses.

Team News

Delhi Capitals are unlikely to tinker with the winning combination, having defeated the mighty CSK in their previous match.

As far as KKR are concerned, vice-captain Nitish Rana didn't play the last game but could be back in contention for a place in the Playing XI.

Head-to-head record

Delhi and Kolkata have faced each other in 32 matches in IPL. Of these, Delhi have won 15 whereas Kolkata have come out victorious on 16 occasions.

Weather report

Expect another hot and humid evening in Vizag. There is no chance of rain, but the conditions will test players' fitness with temperatures hovering around the 30°C mark.
