Kolkata Knight Riders will host KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants in match 28 of IPL 2024. The match will be played at the iconic Eden Gardens cricket stadium.
KKR made an amazing start to the tournament winning 3 out of 3 games before they lost against Chennai Super Kings in their 4th game.
Phil Salt, who made an outstanding start to his IPL career with a half-century in the 1st match, has been unable to carry the momentum and failed to contribute much with the bat in the next 3 outings. Apart from him, Venkatesh Iyer's form is also a concern for the team.
Opening with Sunil Narine has worked for KKR and Andre Russell has also given the team a strong finish whenever he got the chance. Nitish Rana has also recovered from the injury and he is likely to replace Anukul Roy in the playing XI.
In the bowling department, Their biggest buy, Mitchell Starc hasn't impressed much so far in the tournament and Varun Chakravarthy has also failed to make the impact.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz is expected to get an opportunity today in KKR's playing XI and he is likely to replace Phil Salt.
On the other hand, KL Rahul led the side lost their opening match of IPL 2024 but came back strongly in the next three outings with back-to-back victories. However, they will be coming to this match with a 6-wicket defeat against Delhi Capitals.
The likes of Quinton De Kock and Rahul will look to return among runs, while they also boast of a powerful line-up down the order with the likes of Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran
That they also have a formidable slow bowling lineup in Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya will pose some tough questions for KKR batters.
Mayank Yadav's replacement Arshad Khan failed to impress in the previous game against Delhi Capitals and he could be replaced by Mohsin Khan.
