IPL 2024: Mayank Yadav will miss next 2 matches, confirms LSG coach Justin Langer

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have confirmed that their fast bowler, Mayank Yadav, will be sidelined for the team’s next two IPL 2024 matches because of hip stiffness. This development comes as a setback for LSG as they prepare to face the Delhi Capitals this Friday and then travel to Kolkata for a game on April 14.

Mayank Yadav, known for his impressive speed, having bowled over 150 km/h on his IPL debut a number of times, experienced discomfort during his last outing against the Gujarat Titans. After bowling just one over in that match, he had to leave the field due to the emerging issue with his hip. The team's medical staff has conducted an MRI, which revealed some swelling, prompting them to rule him out of immediate upcoming games to allow sufficient time for recovery.

Lucknow's coach, Justin Langer, remains optimistic about Yadav's recovery, targeting his return for the crucial match against Chennai Super Kings on April 19. Langer shared his hopes for Yadav's swift recovery, stating, “We hope that he will be fit by April 19.” He added, “We want him to play every match. He is working hard but will not be able to play tomorrow's match."

The absence of Mayank Yadav is a significant loss for LSG, especially given his potential as a game-changer with his fast bowling capabilities. His early exit from the field in the previous match against Gujarat Titans after just one over has been a cause of concern for the team management.

In addition to Yadav, LSG has also been coping with the absence of their left-arm fast bowler, Mohsin Khan, who missed the last two matches due to an injury. However, there is a silver lining concerning Khan's availability. Coach Langer mentioned that while Khan might be ready to return to the lineup for the Delhi match, he is more likely to be fully fit and fielded in the Kolkata match.
