Jake Fraser-McGurk: DC opener demolishes MI bowling with a whirlwind 84 off 27 in IPL 2024

In an electrifying display of aggressive cricket, Delhi Capitals' opener Jake Fraser-McGurk delivered a remarkable performance against the Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The young Australian batsman unleashed a torrent of runs, showcasing his prowess by rapidly dismantling the opposition's bowling lineup.

The 22-year-old was unstoppable from the outset, dispatching the Mumbai bowlers all around the park with a series of boundaries and sixes. No Mumbai bowler was spared in his onslaught, including Jasprit Bumrah, who was taken for 18 runs in his very first over. Fraser-McGurk’s ferocious batting led Delhi Capitals to a formidable 89 for no loss at the end of just five overs.

Fraser-McGurk’s half-century came in a blistering 15 balls, tying his own record for the fastest fifty of the season, following his previous fifty against Sunrisers Hyderabad which was scored at such rapid succession. His aggressive stance and remarkable speed in scoring left the spectators in awe and briefly put him on track to challenge Chris Gayle’s world record for the fastest T20 century. However, this pursuit was halted by veteran leg-spinner Piyush Chawla, who eventually claimed his wicket.

Despite his dismissal for 84 runs off just 27 balls, Fraser-McGurk's impact was undeniable as he left the field to a relieved Mumbai Indians team. His explosive performance saw Delhi putting together a 114-run partnership for the opening wicket in just the 8th over.
