Delhi Capitals are set to commence their IPL 2024 campaign on March 23, with their first match against Punjab Kings and Rishabh Pant will lead the side during season 17.

Indian cricket’s star wicketkeeper-batsman, Rishabh Pant, is poised to make a triumphant return to the cricket field as he gears up to captain the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024. Delhi Capitals' co-owner Parth Jindal confirmed that star wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant will lead DC in the IPL 2024 but will not keep wickets for the first half of the season.

"Rishabh is batting. He's running. He has started his wicketkeeping. He is likely to be fully fit for the IPL. I am expecting Rishabh to play IPL and he will lead from match one. First seven games, we are going to play him only as a batter and depending on how his body reacts, we will take a call for the rest of the IPL," Jindal said while speaking to ESPN Cricinfo.

Pant gears up for season 17

Rishabh Pant is leaving no stone unturned in his preparations for IPL 2024, engaging in rigorous training sessions covering everything from batting to wicketkeeping. Regular glimpses of Pant’s practice sessions surface on social media, showcasing his dedication and enhanced fitness.

DC to begin IPL 2024 with 'Northern Derby'

Delhi Capitals are set to commence their IPL 2024 campaign on March 23, with their first match against Punjab Kings. However, owing to the Women’s Premier League (WPL) taking place in Arun Jaitley Stadium during the initial half of IPL, Delhi Capitals will not have the opportunity to play home matches at their home ground until later in the season.
