T20 World Cup: New Zealand announce side for the marquee event, Trent Boult returns

New Zealand Cricket announced their squad for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean and the United on the expected lines with the all-rounder Michael Bracewell returning to the fold.

With Kane Williamson leading the side, the Kiwis picked a star-studded team, consisting of the likes of Fin Allen, Trent Boult, Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell, etc.

The squad also features veterans Tim Southee and Trent Boult. Rachin Ravindra and Matt Henry are the only members of the squad who have not appeared in a T20 World Cup previously.

Head coach Gary Stead was excited at the squad announcement saying that the 15 names they have picked cover all the bases and skills they require to be successful in the Caribbean.

Fast bowler Adam Milne was ruled out after a recent ankle surgery saw him miss the tour of Pakistan. Kyle Jamieson is also unavailable as he continues his long recovery from another stress fracture in his lower back.

"I'd like to congratulate everyone named today. It's a special time representing your country at a world tournament," New Zealand coach Gary Stead said on the occasion.

"We expect the venues in the West Indies to offer quite varied conditions and feel we've selected a squad with the scope to adapt to those conditions."

"Matt has worked exceptionally hard on his skills across the phases of a T20 game to come back into selection consideration," Stead added.

New Zealand squad: Kane Williamson (c), Finn Allen, Trent Boult, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Ben Sears (travelling reserve)
