The seemingly invincible Sunrisers Hyderabad were handed a shock defeat by bottom-placed Royal Challengers Bengaluru at home on Thursday.

The hosts failed to chase down a 207-run target after being asked to field first. This was SRH's first loss in four games and came at a time when the Pat Cummins-led team had been on a high, knocking down opponents one game at a time.

At the post-match press conference, head coach Daniel Vettori lamented the lack of wickets at SRH's disposal as one of the reasons for the loss, 'Obviously a disappointing one from where we've come from in the last four games to play some really good cricket. And even though we lost you could see that if we had some wickets at the back end, we could have still chased it down.'

After losing Travis Head early on, Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen failed to make inroads while Aiden Markram too departed early.

With no runs on the board, the responsibility fell on the lower-order's shoulders and if any of the SRH batters could have managed to preserve their wicket, the chase would have been possible.

'Shahbaz (Ahmed) showed you were able to score, Patty (Cummins) showed it was able to score so just those early wickets really broke everything for RCB who bowled exceptionally well,' Vettori added.
