Biggest one-day jump with 97,570 new Covid cases

India has registered the biggest one-day spike of over 97,000 new coronavirus cases. According to the health ministry data released on Saturday morning, the country recorded a whopping 97,570 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the total number of infections to over 46.5 lakh. This the third straight day that India has seen a spike of over 95,000 cases. The country also recorded 1,200 deaths in the last 24 taking the total number of fatalities past 77,000. There are now over 9 and a half lakh active infections in the country while over to 36 lakh have so far recovered from the contagion.
