Border row: After call with Amit Shah, Mizoram CM says 'will resolve dispute amicably'

The boundary dispute between Mizoram and Assam will be resolved amicably through dialogue, Chief Minister Zoramthanga wrote on Twitter on Sunday. He said the decision was was taken during telephonic discussion with Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Zoramthanga appealed to the people of Mizoram to prevent any possible escalation of the situation.

Meanwhile, Mizoram Chief Secretary said the state government will relook at the FIR registered against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over the recent clashes at the interstate border, adding that he and the state CM were not aware of the FIR launched against Sarma.

On July 30, Himanta Biswa Sarma was booked along with six senior officers of the Assam Police on charges of attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy over the clashes

Assam and Mizoram have been engaged in a tense border stand-off after seven people, including six Assam Police personnel, were killed and scores injured in a clash along the Mizoram-Assam inter-state border on July 26.
