Canon announces EOS C70 compact cinema camera

Canon has announced the EOS C70 4K, its first EOS Cinema camera equipped with an RF mount and designed to offer cinema performance in a still camera form factor. It features Canon's Super 35mm DGO 4K sensor that reads each pixel at two different gain levels and delivers 16+ stops of dynamic range at up to DCI 4K/60p or 2K/120p.

Other features include dual-pixel autofocus, a motorised 10-stop ND filter, 9x16 vertical shooting as well as an air intake system for cooling. The camera gets a 3.5-inch 2.76M-dot rear vari-angle LCD but misses out on an electronic viewfinder.

The EOS C70 will go on sale in the US from November for $5,499, but Indian launch details haven’t been shared yet.
