A new report has revealed that Indian men are healthier than women. According to the new GOQii 'India Fit Report 2024', 59 percent of women have been categorized as unhealthy compared to 40 percent of men. Apart from this, Patna has emerged as the unhealthiest city in India, where 55% people reported being unhealthy. The highest number of healthy people are in Surat with 63% and in Jaipur 61%. The report also states that in 2023, 23% of the population of Chandigarh was suffering from high BP. &nbsp;
<h3>Stress is the main reason&nbsp;</h3>
The report also added that Indians continue to be victims of stress which affects their health and well being. According to the report, 26 percent of Indians are stressed due to work pressure while financial instability is the cause of stress for 17 percent Indian population. The percentage of stress among women has risen drastically from being 25 percent in 2021 to an alarming 35 percent in 2023.&nbsp;
<h3>Indians suffer from lifestyle diseases&nbsp;</h3>
The report also mentions that 23 percent of Indians suffer from lifestyle diseases like High blood pressure with 23% of the population dealing with it.&nbsp;
The report indicates that over the past 3 years four most prevalent diseases Indians have been battling are diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and thyroid. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) these lifestyle diseases lead to almost 80 percent of all deaths globally. &nbsp;

Balanced Diet: Consuming a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats is essential for overall health. An Indian couple and their six-year-old child have been found dead in the US state of Maryland in a suspected case of double suicide-murder, police said.
The three people, from Karnataka, were found dead from gunshot wounds in their Baltimore County home on Friday when police responded to a welfare check around noon, police said on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Yogesh H. Nagarajappa (37), Prathiba Y. Amarnath (37) and Yash Honnal (6).
Police said they are believed to be husband, wife and son.
&ldquo;Based on the initial investigation, the incident is believed to be a double murder-suicide that Nagarajappa committed,&rdquo; Baltimore County Police spokesperson Anthony Shelton was quoted as saying by The Baltimore Sun newspaper.
&ldquo;Each appeared to suffer from an apparent gunshot wound,&rdquo; Shelton added.
The family members were reportedly last seen alive on Tuesday evening, police said, adding that an autopsy would be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer to determine the manner and cause of death.
"I am heartbroken and deeply saddened for the innocent victims whose lives were cut short by this horrific act. We will do everything possible to assist family and community members following this tragic incident," a statement by Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski read.
Police said that there was no threat to the surrounding communities.&nbsp;

Suzanne, fitted with a pacemaker, was asked to abandon the attempt to summit Mt Everest after failing to maintain a normal speed during the acclimatisation exercise on the base camp and showing difficulty climbing, Khatiwada said.
Suzanne adamantly refused the advice, asserting that she had to climb the 8,848.86 metres-high peak as she had already paid the fee for acquiring permission to climb the mountain.

The organisers used mikes to make anti-India speeches and attack the Punjab Police for alleged human rights violations. The speeches switched between English and Punjabi to make allegations of Indian media bias for calling them fringe elements and backed by Pakistan's spy agency ISI.

An Indian-origin associate professor at the Wellesley business school, Massachusetts has filed a lawsuit alleging that she was subjected to racial and gender discrimination, according to a media report.
Lakshmi Balachandra, associate professor of entrepreneurship at Babson College alleged she lost career opportunities and faced economic losses, emotional distress, and harm to her reputation because of mistreatment and administrators&rsquo; failure to investigate her concerns, The Boston Globe newspaper reported on February 27.
Balachandra joined Babson&rsquo;s faculty in 2012 and earned tenure in 2019.
In her lawsuit, she called out Andrew Corbett, a professor and former chair of the college&rsquo;s entrepreneurship division, as the "primary direct perpetrators of the discriminatory work environment." According to the complaint filed in US District Court in Boston dated February 27, Balachandra alleged that Corbett, who oversaw teaching assignments, class scheduling, and annual reviews, only allowed her to teach required courses in entrepreneurship despite her requests to teach electives - even though she had taught such classes previously at MIT Sloan School of Management and Harvard Business School.
"Babson favours white and male faculty and predominantly reserves awards and privileges for them,&rdquo; Balachandra's complaint alleged.
According to the complaint, despite her research record, expressed interest, and service to the college, she was denied numerous leadership positions and opportunities for more time to conduct research and write.
&ldquo;Such privileges are routinely given to white male faculty in the entrepreneurship division,&rdquo; the complaint read.
Balachandra&rsquo;s attorney, Monica Shah, said that the professor has also filed a charge of discrimination with the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.
Meanwhile, Babson College has responded that it takes concerns or complaints seriously and has well-established protocols and resources in place to thoroughly investigate and address them.
&ldquo;The college is home to a diverse global community where equity and inclusion are valued and incorporated across every facet of campus, and where discrimination of any kind is not tolerated,&rdquo; a spokesperson of Babson College was quoted as saying.
Balachandra, who is currently on leave for a fellowship at the National Science Foundation, is seeking unspecified damages, the report added.&nbsp;

Amid attempts to cut the massive backlog for US visa appointments, the US embassy in India on Sunday said that Indians seeking B1 and B2 visa can apply for the interview at select American embassies abroad.&nbsp;
Citing Thailand as an example, it said that the country has appointment capacity for B1 and B2 visa (travel and business). The wait time is reportedly 14 days whereas wait time in Kolkata is 589 days and 638 in Mumbai, as of now.
"Do you have upcoming international travel? If so, you may be able to get a visa appointment at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in your destination. For example, @USEmbassyBKK has opened B1/B2 appointment capacity for Indians who will be in Thailand in the coming months," US embassy, India, tweeted.

As many as 8,343 Indian prisoners, including undertrials, are lodged in various jails around the world, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday.
Minister of State in the MEA, V Muraleedharan said in Lok Sabha that the government attaches the highest priority to the safety, security and well-being of Indians in foreign countries, including those in the foreign jails.
He was replying to a question.&nbsp; The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has the highest 1,926 Indian prisoners followed by Saudi Arabia with 1,362 and Nepal having 1,222 inmates, according to the details provided by Muraleedharan in Lok Sabha.
"As per the information available with the ministry, the number of Indian prisoners, including under-trials, in foreign prisons at present is 8,343," Muraleedharan said.
He said India has signed agreements on transfer of sentenced persons (TSP) with 31 countries.

Devsish and a friend were near a parking lot when a vehicle approached them to rob them, police said.

An Indian national has died in America after being shot during an armed robbery.
23-year-old Devsish Nandepu suffered bullet injuries on 22 January 2023 in Princeton Park, Chicago. He was shot in the armpit, and died a day later, as per reports.
The report added that Nandepu died just after 4 a.m. at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. He had been taken to the hospital in a critical condition after the incident.
Devsish and a friend were near a parking lot when a vehicle approached them, according to police. The car's occupants held them at gunpoint, and demanded valuables. Even though Devsish and his friend complied, they were shot.
The other man suffered an injury in his chest and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was in critical condition, police said.
No arrests were made by 24 January.

An Indian-origin driver, who caused the death of a pregnant woman and her father after losing control of his vehicle due to consumption of drugs in a seaside town in south-eastern England, has been sentenced to 16 years' imprisonment. According to local police, Nitesh Bissendary lost control of his black Alfa Romeo in Ramsgate, Kent, in August and also injured three others, including two children.
The 31-year-old was sentenced on Thursday following a trial at Canterbury Crown Court. He will also be disqualified from driving for 10 years following his custodial sentence.
&ldquo;From the moment he took cocaine before getting behind the wheel, the actions of Nitesh Bissendary have been nothing short of disgraceful,&rdquo; Detective Inspector Lynn Wilczek of Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said.

&ldquo;He has refused to take full responsibility for a tragic incident that was completely avoidable and entirely of his making, going so far as to run away whilst his victims lay injured and dying. Denying his actions were dangerous only caused more pain for the family as they were forced to relive the terrible events of that night during his trial,&rdquo; he said.
&ldquo;I am pleased the jury saw fit to convict Bissendary for his crimes and that he will now serve a significant period of time behind bars where he belongs. This case should serve as a stark reminder to all motorists of the dangers of drug-driving and why we do not hesitate to take action against anyone who is found to be under the influence. Such selfish actions really do put lives at risk,&rdquo; the officer added.
The court was told how Bissendary had travelled around 30 metres on the pavement before colliding with the pedestrians and then fled the scene immediately afterwards. He returned to the scene of the incident after initially fleeing on foot, failing a roadside drug test that indicated traces of cocaine. However, he refused to give a follow-up blood test following arrest.
The jury heard that Bissendary claimed to have a vehicle defect which he was trying to rectify, causing him to take his eyes off the road moments before the collision.
Noga Sella, 37, was five weeks pregnant when she was killed in the collision. Her father Yoram Hirshfeld, 81, also died from his injuries, whilst Sella's husband Omer was badly hurt.
&ldquo;There are few things in life as painful as the loss of a loved one, especially when such a loss comes without warning and as the result of someone else's irresponsible behaviour. To lose two people at the same time is unimaginable,&rdquo; Wilczek noted in the police statement.
Bissendary admitted causing death by careless driving, but denied the more serious offence of causing death by dangerous driving in addition to causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He also pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, failing to provide a sample for analysis and possession with intent to supply cocaine.
