Choksi's 'girlfriend' Barbara denies role in kidnapping, says he gifted her fake diamond rings

Barbara Jarabica, the rumoured girlfriend of Mehul Choksi, in an exclusive interview to India Today claimed that she had no role in the abduction of the fugitive businessman.

In his letter to Antigua Police, Choksi alleged that he was abducted from Barbara Jarabica's home and taken to Dominica on a boat. He has been in judicial custody in Dominica since May 24, charged with illegally entering the country.

The fugitive businessman said that when he reached Barbara’s home to pick her up on May 23 he was beaten by 8-10 men who claimed to be from Antigua Police. He also claimed in his letter that Barbara made no attempts to rescue him or call the police which, he said proved she was an integral part of the plan.

Barbara has however denied being involved in the kidnapping and alleged her name was dragged by Choksi's lawyers and family members.

In the interview she revealed Choksi approached her during her visit to Antigua last year and introduced himself as 'Raj'. She further said he had flirted with her and gifted her diamond rings and bracelets which she later found to be fake.
