'Does he understand?' FM Sitaraman hits back at Rahul Gandhi for criticising monetisation plan

Hours after Rahul Gandhi questioned the National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) and accused the Narendra Modi-led BJP government of “putting India on sale”, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman hit out at the Congress leader asking if understands monetisation at all

Sitharaman questioned the contributions of the Opposition party over the last 70 years. She claimed the Congress sold the country's resources and made kickbacks in it.

Accusing the Modi government of destroying what the UPA built, Rahul had said that the Centre was selling everything that the grand old party created.

His remarks came after Sitharaman launched the National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) on Monday.

The monetisation plan under which up to 25 airports, 40 railway stations and 15 railway stadiums, among other installations, have been identified for private investment has become a huge political flashpoint.
