'Emmy Awards 2021': Everything you need to know about the ceremony

Television’s biggest night is back as the 73rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards are here!

Unlike last year, the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles will not be empty this time.

Not just host Cedric the Entertainer but even Hollywood's biggest stars will be seen in attendance.

But who will take the top honours?

Netflix's latest season of British royals drama 'The Crown' and Star Wars television series 'The Mandalorian' on Disney+ topped the list with 24 nods each followed by Disney+'s Marvel show 'Wandavision' with 23 nods.

The Handmaid’s Tale and Saturday Night Live also earned the next highest amount of nominations with 21 each.

Apple TV+'s 'Ted Lasso' bagged 13 nods, including the major ones like Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, and so on.

Uzo Aduba, Olivia Colman, Emma Corrin, Elisabeth Moss, Mj Rodriguez, and Jurnee Smollett will compete for best actress in the drama category while Sterling K. Brown, Jonathan Majors, Josh O’Connor, Regé-Jean Page, Billy Porter & Matthew Rhys are the contenders for best actor this year.

The biggest battle of the night, however, will be between Disney, HBO and Netflix. In total, Disney bagged 146, HBO bagged 130 nominations while Netflix has managed 129 nods.

There are bound to be some surprises in store with the Hollywood A-listers putting their best fashion foot forward for the big night.

The awards will be given away by a star-studded lineup of presenters for the event, including Annaleigh Ashford, LL Cool J, Awkwafina, Misty Copeland, Michael Douglas, Ava DuVernay, Taraji P. Henson, Dolly Parton, Ellen Pompeo, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Rita Wilson among others.

All attendees at the primetime ceremony and the Creative Arts events will be required to provide a negative COVID-19 test and be fully vaccinated in order to attend the show at the Microsoft Theater.
