Hathras gangrape: UP CM sends top officials to meet victim's family

Amid severe criticism and protests against law and order situation in UP and the govt's handling of the Hathras gangrape and murder case, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sent senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi and Director General of Police HC Awasthy to visit the victim's family. The state police and administration are being attacked from all quarters after reports emerged that they cremated the 19-year-old gangrape victim's body without her family's consent. The family was reportedly not allowed to take the girl's body home.
