‘Honour pledge’: UK warned over Brexit deal commitments

As Brexit trade talks reached a crucial final stage, Britain on Monday faced warnings that it will risk its international reputation if it shifted from its agreement to leave the European Union. EU told UK to stand firm on trade demands and honour pledge to Brexiteers. The Financial Times reported that UK PM Boris Johnson was planning new legislation that would override parts of the Withdrawal Agreement treaty that Britain and the EU agreed in October 2019.

Johnson, on Sunday had warned that Britain could walk away from the talks within weeks and insisted that a no-deal exit would be a “good outcome for the UK”. With talks deadlocked, Johnson said an agreement would only be possible if EU negotiators are prepared to “rethink their current positions”.
