      Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that the Tokyo Paralympics will always have a special place in the history of Indian sports and it will rightly do.

      It was no less than a medal shower as India registered its largest ever medal haul at the Paralympic Games finishing with 5 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze. With a total of 19 medals, India went past its previous best tally of 4 medals at the 2016 Games in Rio.

      There were a number of records broken and set by the Indian para athletes.

      Praveen Kumar - Asian Record in Men’s High Jump T64

      India's campaign began with silver in table tennis women's singles (Class 4) by Bhavinaben Patel and ended in style, when Krishna Nagar won gold in badminton men's singles (SH6) on the last day.

      Out of 162 nations, India finished 24th in the overall medal tally, while its accomplishment of 19 medals is ranked 20th based on the number of medals.

      Interestingly, this feat came just days after India registered its best medal haul in the Olympic Games as well, with 1 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze.
