PM Modi, Mamata Banerjee, Adar Poonawalla in Time’s 100 most influential people list

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Chief Executive Officer of the Serum Institute of India (SII), Adar Poonawalla, are among the few Indians who have been featured in Time Magazine's list of '100 most influential people of 2021'.

PM Modi, who has found himself in the list a few times in previous years, was called one of the pivotal leaders of the country by the magazine. The profile of PM Narendra Modi, written by CNN journalist Fareed Zakaria, says India has had three pivotal leaders since independence - Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Narendra Modi.

Time on Wednesday unveiled its annual list which also includes US President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Prince Harry and Meghan, and former US President Donald Trump.

Interestingly, co-founder of the Taliban, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar is also on the list. Baradar has been named deputy to Mullah Akhund, head of the interim Taliban regime in Afghanistan
