Telangana's Ramappa temple is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Ramappa temple at Palampet in Telangana's Warangal has been conferred the tag of UNESCO World Heritage site. With this, the temple has become the 39th site in India to gain the prestigious tag.

The 13th-century structure was nominated for the UNESCO World Heritage Site selection process in 2019. Located in Palmapet, the Ramappa temple, is also known as Ramalingeshwara or Rudreshwara temple and dates back to 1213 AD, during the reign of Kakatiya King Ganapati Deva.

Prime Minister Modi congratulated the people of the state, while Telangana chief minister lauded the Telangana public representatives and government officials who worked hard for the recognition.

PM tweeted, the iconic Ramappa Temple showcases the outstanding craftsmanship of great Kakatiya dynasty, and urged all to visit this majestic Temple complex and get a first-hand experience of its grandness.
