Trump condemns Capitol violence, concedes defeat to Biden

Under fire over the Capitol Hill violence by his supporters on Wednesday, US president Donald Trump on Thursday condemned the storming of the building and conceded election defeat to Joe Biden, which he till now refused to do. He also pledged to an orderly transition on January 20th. Amid call for his removal from office, Trump's spokesperson said that he condemned "in the strongest possible terms" violence by supporters who entered the US Capitol after being whipped up in a speech by the president. "The violence we saw yesterday at our nation's Capitol was appalling, reprehensible and antithetical to the American way," White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany told reporters.
