In a stunning revelation, BJP MLA Shrimant Balasaheb Patil on Sunday claimed that he was offered money to leave Congress and join BJP before the toppling of the Congress-JDS government in Karnataka.

Patil said that he joined the BJP without taking money and had only "asked for a ministerial berth".

He added that for some reasons, BJP didn't make him minister, but has promised that he will get a minister's post in the next expansion.

Patil is an MLA from Kagwad Assembly constituency in Karnataka. He had a long association with Congress but changed camp in July 2019. He was one of the 16 MLAs who joined BJP from Congress and Janata Dal Secular leading to the fall of the coalition government led by then Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy.
