Google has officially declared the launch date of its much-anticipated smartphones - the Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro. This announcement comes hot on the heels of Apple's recent invitation for the iPhone 15 series launch.
The upcoming Made by Google event is slated for October 4th, just a few weeks after the new iPhone models become available. There is also a strong buzz that Google might reveal the second-generation Google Pixel Watch 2 along with the phones.
How and When to Watch Made by Google Event
This annual Made by Google Event will be conducted in-person in New York City, similar to the previous year. Additionally, the event will be broadcasted live on YouTube, starting at 10 AM ET or 7:30 PM IST.
Attendees and online viewers can expect the unveiling of two new Pixel phones, the Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro.
Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro: Anticipated Features
The upcoming Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro have been under the spotlight for quite some time. Just recently, the Google Pixel 8 Pro appeared on the Google website, showcasing the back of the phone in a Porcelain colour.
The design of the two phones is expected to be consistent with their predecessors. However, minor differences might be observed. For example, the Pro model is expected to have a flat display as opposed to a curved one in the vanilla model.

Additionally, the camera visor of the Pro model may have a single cutout for all lenses and include a temperature sensor.
The devices are expected to be powered by Google's third-generation in-house chipset, the Tensor G3, and should come with Android 14 pre-installed.
Camera enhancements are expected for the Google Pixel 8 series this year. A new 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN2 primary sensor is anticipated, which can capture 35% more light than the GN1 sensors used in the Pixel 6 and 7 series.
The Google Pixel 8 Pro may feature a new 64MP ultra-wide sensor, while the Google Pixel 8 will likely retain the 12.2MP version. Both phones are expected to have new software features, including the ability to control bokeh intensity and an adaptive torch to avoid overexposure.
The Google Pixel 8 is expected to have a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Google Pixel 8 Pro is anticipated to have a 6.7-inch flat display with a 120Hz variable refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1600 nits.
Battery capacities for both phones are also expected to see a slight increase. The Google Pixel 8 may have a 4,485mAh battery, and the Google Pixel 8 Pro a 4,950mAh battery.
Both phones are expected to have enhanced wired charging capabilities, with the Google Pixel 8 supporting 24W and the Google Pixel 8 Pro supporting 27W charging speeds. Both models are expected to support 20W wireless charging, although Qi 2 charging speed will likely be limited to 12W.
Google Pixel Watch 2: What We Know
The Google Pixel Watch 2 is expected to maintain its circular dial design with the same large black bezels as its predecessor, featuring a 1.2-inch circular OLED screen with a 384x384 pixel resolution.
The second-generation Google Pixel Watch is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon W5 Series chip and have a slightly larger 306mAh battery.
It is expected to run on Android 13-powered Wear OS 4 and feature dynamic theming and seamless updates. Additionally, the Google Pixel Watch 2 is expected to have ultra-wideband (UWB) capabilities.
New Pixel Tablet?
Besides this, there is no information on any other possible products. Last year, the company gave a sneak peek of its Pixel Tablet, which has since been released, but it is too soon to anticipate a follow-up to that device.
