Google mocks iPhone 15 Pro Max in a new Pixel 8 teaser ad

In the latest instalment of Google's #BestPhonesForever series, the tech giant uses video ads to promote the upcoming Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, while taking jabs at the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Google mocks iPhone 15 Pro Max in a new Pixel 8 teaser ad

Google has released another video ad as part of its ongoing "#BestPhonesForever" campaign, highlighting the imminent release of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

However, the ads also take a humorous swipe at the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, suggesting that the upcoming Pixel devices will outshine Apple's offerings in terms of innovation and artificial intelligence.

The Battle of Innovation

In the video ad, Google portrays the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max as lacking in significant enhancements, claiming that they only feature a different mute button, a dynamic-er island, and a new charging port.

Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 Pro is touted as being filled with AI capabilities and boasting an eye-catching design. Google's intention appears to be to position the Pixel 8 series as more innovative and technologically advanced than its iPhone counterpart.

The Perception vs Reality

While Google's video ads aim to downplay the hype surrounding the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, it is essential to note that Apple's devices have garnered significant attention and popularity.

Prior launches of the iPhone have seen people lining up outside stores in multiple countries, eager to get their hands on the latest models.

Google's attempt to undermine Apple's reputation in this aspect may not necessarily resonate with the reality of consumer demand and excitement surrounding the iPhone.

The Intent Behind the Ads

Google's video ads may be meant to be cute and entertaining, emphasising the "Best Friends Forever" theme, but they are also a strategic move to target Apple where Google believes it will hurt the most.

By insinuating that the upcoming Pixel devices will be more innovative, eye-catching, and capable of delivering the best AI experience, Google is attempting to position itself as a competitor to Apple in the smartphone market.

Google Pixel 8 launch date

The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will debut on October 4, 2023. In India, pre-orders for these new Google smartphones will start on October 5 on Flipkart.
