iPhone 16 Series Price in India: How much will it cost and what to expect ahead of September launch

The iPhone 16 series launches on September 9, bringing exciting new features. However, the prices in India can be expected to be higher, in keeping with Apple’s historical pricing strategy. Here are all the details of expected prices and key upgrades.

iPhone 16 Series Price in India: How much will it cost and what to expect ahead of September launch

Apple's upcoming flagship event in September 2024 is just around the corner, with the official iPhone 16 launch scheduled for September 9. As we gear up for the “glowtime”, we will soon see the unveiling of four new iPhones- the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. In this article, we explore the possible price of the iPhone 16 series in India and the key features that you can anticipate.

iPhone 16 Series Price in India

The iPhone 16 Plus price is anticipated to remain consistent with last year’s pricing. According to recent leaks from Apple Hub, the iPhone 16 lineup is expected to maintain pricing close to last year’s models in the US. The base model, the iPhone 16, is rumored to be priced at $799, which roughly converts to around ₹67,100. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Plus is expected to cost $899, approximately ₹75,500. The more premium models, such as the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, are tipped to be priced at $1,099 (around ₹92,300) and $1,199 (around ₹1,00,700), respectively, for the 256GB storage variants.

However, prices in India are expected to be higher, as has been the case with previous iPhone launches. The iPhone 15 started at $799 in the US, but in India, it was priced at ₹79,900.

Apple typically follows a conversion rate that results in a significantly higher price point in India. This difference stems from Apple’s historical pricing strategy, where 1 USD is often equated to ₹100 rather than the actual exchange rate.

iPhone 16 Price in India: For instance, while the iPhone 16 is rumored to kick off at $799 in the US, the iPhone 16 price in India might start at ₹79,900 instead of the direct conversion equivalent of ₹67,100. This difference stems from Apple’s historical pricing strategy, where 1 USD is often equated to ₹100 rather than the actual exchange rate.

Similarly, the iPhone 16 Plus price in India could be around ₹89,900, despite its US price of $899.

iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max Price in India: Considering that the current-gen iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max launched at starting prices of ₹1,29,800 and ₹1,54,000 respectively, it's reasonable to anticipate similar, if not higher pricing for both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Therefore, be prepared to pay a premium price for these top-tier variants in the iPhone 16 series.

While these are still leaked and estimated figures, the iPhone 16 price in India will be officially confirmed during the Apple event in September 2024. Until then, consumers can expect a premium on the prices compared to the US market, as has been the trend with previous Apple product launches.

iPhone 16 Series Specs and Features

The iPhone 16 launch has already generated significant buzz due to several anticipated upgrades. Upcoming features that has got fans excited include a new diagonal camera island, offering enhanced spatial video capabilities, and a capacitive shutter button for improved photography. Additionally, Apple is rumored to introduce a transparent display, adding a futuristic touch to the design. The iPhone 16 Plus and other models may also come with a 40W charger, ensuring faster charging times.

iPhone 16 Series Pre-Order and Availability

As we approach the iPhone 16 release date, pre-orders are expected to begin shortly after the official announcement at the Apple event in September 2024. The iPhone 16 pre-order window will allow customers to secure their devices ahead of the market launch. Pricing details will be confirmed at the event, with the Indian market likely seeing a higher cost compared to the US.
