Motorola has unveiled the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra in Europe, a significant addition to the Motorola Edge 50 series. This release marks a revival of unique designs, including a real wood phone back option.
The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is an upgrade over the Moto Edge 50 Pro which launched earlier this month in India with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra features the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, in addition to other improvements.
Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Price and Availability
The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra price is set at €1,000 for the base model. It is scheduled to be available in select European countries in the upcoming weeks. The Motorola Edge 50 series global launch date is confirmed for April 16, 2024, pointing at the global launch expected to be held soon.
Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Performance and Storage
Snapdragon 8s Gen 3: At its core, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra employs the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, a leap from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 found in the Edge 50 Pro. This advancement offers greater processing power, facilitating enhanced performance across applications.
The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is equipped with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, which can be expanded using the device's RAM boost feature. The smartphone is available with either 512GB or 1TB of internal storage, utilizing the faster UFS 4.0 technology.
Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Camera Capabilities
The primary camera of the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra features a 50MP 1/1.3” sensor, which allows for 1.2µm pixel size before the implementation of quad pixel binning, enhancing low-light performance. This camera supports omni-directional autofocus and optical image stabilization with an f/1.6 aperture.
The standout 64MP periscope telephoto lens offers 3x optical zoom and an f/2.4 aperture, making it perfect for capturing distant subjects with clarity. Additionally, a 50MP ultra-wide camera provides a 122° field of view and includes autofocus for macro shots.
The camera system is further bolstered by a laser autofocus system and a 3-in-1 sensor for improved exposure, auto white balance, and flicker detection.
The front-facing camera boasts a 50MP sensor with an f/1.9 lens and autofocus, capable of recording 4K video at 60fps. Slow-motion video capture is supported at 1080p, with speeds of 120fps on the front and up to 960fps on the back.
With 2024 being a pivotal year for AI, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra integrates advanced artificial intelligence to adjust shutter speed, stabilization levels, and focus tracking automatically, based on the scene's requirements.
The newly developed Photo Enhancement Engine optimizes images for better detail in highlights and shadows, enhancing clarity, color accuracy, and bokeh effect.
Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Display and Build
The device features a 6.7” P-OLED curved display with a resolution of 2,712 x 1,220 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The screen supports a 144Hz refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sampling rate in gaming mode.
It achieves a peak brightness of 2,500 nits and incorporates DC dimming. HDR10+ support and Pantone Validated certifications assure top-tier visual quality, ideal for streaming high-definition content from platforms like Netflix and Amazon.
Constructed with an aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass Victus, the phone is designed to resist dust and water, certified with an IP68 rating.
Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Battery and Charging
It incorporates a 4,500mAh battery supporting 125W TurboPower wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Quick charge capabilities mean that just four minutes of charging can provide a significant boost, enough to last the remainder of the day.
Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Connectivity and Audio
The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra supports both single-SIM and dual-SIM configurations, with provisions for SIM and eSIM. It is compatible with the latest Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) and Bluetooth 5.4 standards.
Ultra Wide Band (UWB) technology is included for precise distance and angle measurements relative to other UWB-enabled devices. The phone also features USB-C connectivity, supporting USB 3.2 and DisplayPort 1.4 standards.
Enhanced audio experiences are delivered through stereo speakers tuned by Dolby Atmos, and Dolby Head Tracking technology is supported, enhancing the immersive audio experience especially when paired with the newly unveiled Motorola earbuds.
In addition to the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, the Motorola Edge 50 series also includes the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion, positioned as a more accessible option for consumers. This model is expected to feature a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC, catering to those seeking solid performance at a more budget-friendly price point. With a rumored price of approximately Rs 25,000, the Fusion variant offers a 6.7-inch display and a robust 5,000mAh battery equipped with 68W fast charging.
