OnePlus Open revealed as the Oppo Find N3's global counterpart

The upcoming OnePlus Open and Oppo Find N3 will be remarkably similar, with the major differences being the brand names and the targeted markets.

OnePlus Open revealed as the Oppo Find N3's global counterpart

OnePlus has confirmed to The Verge that its upcoming foldable phone, the OnePlus Open, is essentially a rebranded version of the Oppo Find N3.

The two companies collaborated on the development of the device, with OnePlus co-founder and Oppo Chief Product Officer Pete Lau overseeing the project.

While the Find N3 will be exclusive to the Chinese market, the OnePlus Open is expected to launch globally on October 19, 2023.

Shared Design and Patents

The OnePlus Open and Find N3 share many design features, including a 37% sturdier hinge with fewer components compared to their predecessors.

This improvement not only makes the devices smaller and lighter but also reduces the gap between the screens when folded. Both phones will feature the signature OnePlus Alert Slider.

Highlighting Features

Pete Lau showcased the OnePlus Open in a YouTube video on the Unbox Therapy channel.

He emphasised the phone's innovative hinge mechanism, for which the companies have registered 35 patents. The OnePlus Open is expected to have a 7.82-inch AMOLED main screen and a 6.31-inch cover screen.

OnePlus Open Specifications (Expected)

Both the OnePlus Open and the Oppo Find N3 are rumoured to come with impressive specifications.

They might feature up to 24GB of RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. Under the hood, users can expect the devices to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

The phones are likely to be equipped with a 4,520mAh battery and support 100W wired charging, as well as wireless charging.

The devices are rumoured to sport a 50MP primary camera, a 48MP ultrawide lens, and a 64MP periscope telephoto module on the rear. For selfies and video calls, a 32MP front camera is expected.

The OnePlus Open is likely to run on Android 13 with OxygenOS 13 in global markets, while the Find N3 might come with ColorOS 13.1 in China.

However, it should be noted that these details are yet to be officially confirmed.
