Seven traffic police officers have been fired after a Delhi man's video went viral. He accused them of demanding hefty bribes.

Gujarat Police has suspended three police personnel and terminated the services of seven Traffic Brigade (TRB) staffers for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a Delhi-based businessman for carrying a liquor bottle in his car, an official said.
The action came after businessman Kanav Manchanda posted a video accusing police personnel of extracting Rs 20,000 from him during his city visit on Sunday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic-East), Safin Hasan, said on Tuesday.
Although Manchanda, who came to Ahmedabad from Delhi to watch the final match of the ICC World Cup on Sunday in his car, did not lodge any formal complaint, the police took cognisance of his viral video and took action against 10 cops who were allegedly involved in the act, Hasan said.
"While we have already ordered a detailed inquiry into the alleged incident, our preliminary probe revealed this incident did take place. We have suspended three of our policemen and terminated the services of seven TRB jawans for their alleged role. The suspended cops include one head constable and two constables," the DCP said.
In the video, Manchanda said he was stopped by some policemen at Nana Chiloda circle on the outskirts of the city on Sunday morning when he was on his way to the Narendra Modi Stadium in his car.
Since he was carrying a liquor bottle in his car, police allegedly asked him to pay a bribe promising that no action would be taken against him considering that Gujarat is a dry state. Finally, the policemen settled for Rs 20,000, which Manchanda claimed to have paid through UPI.
To back his claim, Manchanda shared the screenshot of his mobile phone which suggested that he had paid Rs 20,000 to one Arun Hadiyol as directed by the cops.
"Since the victim has not lodged any complaint, we have sent our team to Delhi to take his detailed statement and also a formal complaint if he wishes to. The person who received the money through UPI will also be called for investigation," Hasan said.

According to a new report released by Knight Frank, India's leading property consultant, Ahmedabad is the most affordable Indian city to reside in.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The affordability index published by Knight Frank evaluates the affordability of living in a particular city by considering the EMIs required for a resident to purchase a home using a loan. This cost is then divided by the total income of an average household within that city.
So, a Knight Frank Affordability index level of 40% for a city implies that on average, households in that city need to spend 40% of their income to fund the EMI of housing loan for that unit.
An EMI ratio over 50% is considered unaffordable as it is the limit beyond which banks rarely underwrite a mortgage.&nbsp;
Whereas, on the other hand, Mumbai is the most expensive housing market. The home loan EMI ratio is a whopping 55% means that the average household needs to pay more than half its income.&nbsp;
Hyderabad is the 2nd most expensive city, Delhi marks as the 3rd, Tamil Nadu 4th and Pune, stands at the 5th position.&nbsp;

A man died and five others were injured after a balcony of a dilapidated house on the route of the annual Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra procession collapsed in Dariapur locality in Ahmedabad on Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Some of the injured were standing on the second-storey balcony watching the chariot procession while some were standing underneath, said inspector J S Chaudhary of Dariapur police station.
They were rushed to the civil hospital where Mehul Panchal (36) died during treatment while the condition of the other five was said to be stable, he said.
Videos of the incident showed three persons standing on the balcony as the 146th annual Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra was passing.
The two-storey building was said to be old and dilapidated. The administration had taken special precautions to ensure that no such incident took place during the Rath Yatra, officials said.
As police personnel rushed to help those who were injured in the collapse, the procession continued.

Around 6:30 p.m. local time, which was 30 minutes before the throw, it started to rain here. It continued to rain nonstop for the next two and a half hours at least.

Defending Champions Gujarat Titans' home ground, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, will host the final two clashes in the IPL - Qualifier 2 on May 26 and then the final on May 28.

The BCCI announced the venues for the IPL playoffs and final that will be played between May 23 to 28.
Qualifier 1 will be held on May 23 at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai, followed by the Eliminator on the very next day at the same venue.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited his mother at a hospital in Ahmedabad after she was admitted on Tuesday night. 

The UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology &amp; Research Centre has issued a statement saying that the condition of PM Modi's 99-year-old mother is stable.

&nbsp;Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Hiraben (99) was on Wednesday admitted to a super-specialty hospital here due to some health issues, and her condition is stable, hospital authorities said.
Modi visited the hospital in the afternoon to meet his ailing mother. After reaching Ahmedabad, he drove to the hospital and remained there for over an hour.
While leaving the hospital, Modi folded his hands in the 'namaste' pose to the crowd and waiting media persons.
Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel also visited the hospital to inquire about the health of Hiraben.

Hiraben, also called Hiraba, was admitted to U N Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre, a government-funded autonomous hospital situated in the campus of the civil hospital, in the morning.
"Prime Minister's mother is admitted to U N Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre, Ahmedabad, and her condition is stable" said the hospital in a statement.
"She has been admitted to the hospital for a check-up. Her condition is normal. PM Modi's elder brother Somabhai is also present in the hospital," BJP MLA from Dariapur Kaushik Jain told PTI.
Hiraben lives in Raysan village near Gandhinagar city with PM Modi's younger brother Pankaj Modi. The PM regularly visits Raysan and spends time with his mother during most of his Gujarat visits.&nbsp;

The 38 convicts in the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts case deserve the death sentence as allowing them to remain in society is akin to releasing a "man-eater leopard" in public that consumes innocents, the special court has said in its order.
In the judgement, a copy of which was made available on Saturday, the court also said that in its opinion, the death sentence will be reasonable as the case falls in the "rarest of the rare" category.
The special court had on Friday sentenced to death 38 members of the terror outfit Indian Mujahideen (IM) for the Ahmedabad bombings which killed 56 people and injured over 200 on July 26, 2008. The court also gave life terms to 11 other IM convicts in the case.
It was for the first time in the country that the maximum number of death sentences were handed down by a court in one go.
"The convicts created unrest in a peaceful society and carried out anti-national activities while living here. They have no respect for the constitutionally-elected government at the Centre and in Gujarat, and a few believe only in Allah and not in the government or the judiciary," special judge A R Patel said in the order.
There is no need for the government to keep the convicts in jail, especially those who said they believed only in their God and none others, the court said, adding there is no jail in the country that can keep them lodged forever.
"If such people are allowed to remain in the society, it will be like releasing a man-eater leopard in public. Such convicts are like a man-eater leopard that eats innocents in society, including children, youth, elderly, women, men, newborns, and people of different caste and communities," the judge said in the order.

A few days after the Lucknow&nbsp;IPL&nbsp;franchise officially named themselves as Lucknow&nbsp;Super Giants, the Ahmedabad&nbsp;franchise has officially named itself 'Gujarat Titans'.&nbsp;
The franchise is one of the 2 new teams to join the cash-rich&nbsp;league and was purchased by the CVC group for an amount of ₹5625&nbsp;Crore. The Gujarat Lions had picked Hardik&nbsp;Pandya&nbsp;as its skipper ahead of the IPL&nbsp;mega auction and had also roped in Shubman&nbsp;Gill and Rashid&nbsp;Khan.&nbsp;
Former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra is set to be their head coach while the 2011 World Cup-winning coach&nbsp;Gary Kirsten will be the mentor and batting coach.&nbsp;
