<p>Shubman Gill led the way with a fluent 112 while Virat Kohli (52) and Shreyas Iyer (78) also cashed in on ideal conditions in their last outing before the Champions Trophy, helping India set a 357-run target against England in third and final match in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Gill anchored India's innings en route to his seventh ODI ton &mdash; 112 off 104 balls (14x4s, 3x6s) which also took his average past 60 in the format &mdash; while putting on two century stands with Kohli and Iyer to consolidate for India, who finished at 356 all-out.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The India vice-captain Gill also achieved the unique feat of scoring a century each across the three international formats at the same venue. Gill, meanwhile, has also scored an IPL hundred here at the Narendra Modi Stadium.</p>
<p>Attacking the fast bowlers and spinners alike, Gill's knock was replete with rich strokes particularly down the ground. The opener displayed immaculate footwork at the crease early on to take the attack to the opposition and remained resolute to score off spin, until he was cleaned up by Adil Rashid (4/64).&nbsp;</p>
<p>On his part, Kohli took his time to find the rhythm and when he did, the batting mainstay looked hitting his strides. Kohli made the most of a juicy overpitched delivery from Mark Wood which he drove through the covers for his first four, then got on top of the ball from Saqib Mahmood to swat it for another boundary through mid-wicket and punished the England pacer for being wayward as he cut him for his third four.</p>
<p>While his stroke play was compelling in the run-a-ball fifty for his 73rd half-century, there were elements of struggle against England leg-spinner Adil Rashid. When Kohli was on 38, he survived a leg-before appeal as an attempted flick was missed and the ball had crashed into his pads.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The replays showed the ball had pitched just outside the line of leg-stump. But Rashid continued to have wood over Kohli as soon after he raised his bat for fifty, the England spinner had him caught behind on a loopy delivery which turned away and took an edge before settling in the wicketkeeper&rsquo;s gloves.&nbsp;</p>
<p>This was the fifth time Rashid has dismissed Kohli in ODIs. Kohli was stranded 37 runs short of becoming only the third batter ever to make 14,000 ODI runs, missing a personal landmark like his teammate Rohit Sharma earlier in the innings. It is expected to be completed during Champions Trophy.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Coming off a terrific century in second ODI, Rohit Sharma (1) could not even get a start as a delivery from Wood which was angled in, straightened enough to take the outside edge and Phil Salt collected a sharp catch.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Iyer only had himself to blame for missing out on a triple-digit score after he was caught behind on a delivery fired down the leg stump by Rashid, one that he needlessly chased and edged. Hardik Pandya (17) hit a couple of sixes before perishing off Rashid and KL Rahul also stroked his way to a quick 29-ball 40 towards the end.</p>

<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged the importance of the concert, saying, "You must have seen fabulous pictures of the Coldplay concert organised in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. I expect the state and the private sector to focus on needed infrastructure and skills."</p>
<p>This event adds to Gujarat&rsquo;s growing reputation as a prime hub for international events, which already includes successful hosting of the G-20 Summit and the Cricket World Cup in 2023.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In addition to the concert&rsquo;s success, Ahmedabad&rsquo;s metro saw an incredible spike in ridership. Over two days, the metro recorded 4,05,264 passengers, surpassing numbers from other major sporting events. The concert generated Rs 66 lakh in metro revenue, exceeding figures from the 2023 Cricket World Cup and IPL events.</p>
<p>The concert&rsquo;s security and logistical efforts were noteworthy, with more than 1,800 police personnel deployed to ensure a safe experience.&nbsp;</p>
<p>To maintain security, the venue was monitored using advanced CCTV systems, and two dedicated control rooms were established.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Waste management was also handled efficiently, with over 1,500 tons of waste cleared within 48 hours, thanks to 492 sanitation workers, 14 JCB machines, and 27 trucks.</p>
<p>The Coldplay concert also provided a significant economic boost to the local economy, with over 900 flights arriving at Ahmedabad International Airport in just three days. Visitors from across the country and the world not only attended the concert but also explored the city's cultural landmarks.&nbsp;</p>
<p>This influx of visitors benefitted local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, and street vendors.</p>
<p>Coldplay&rsquo;s India leg of the Music of the Spheres tour started on January 16, 2025. Their final show at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Republic Day was a spectacular conclusion.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A two-month-old boy from Rajasthan was diagnosed with Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) at an Ahmedabad hospital. Gujarat's Health Minister assures no panic as preparations are made to address the viral infection.</p>

<p>A two-month-old boy admitted to a private hospital in Ahmedabad has been detected with Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) infection, an official said on Monday.</p>
<p>Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel asked people not to panic and said the state government has made preparations to tackle the viral infection.</p>
<p>The infant, who hails from Dungarpur in Rajasthan, was admitted to the hospital, located in Chandkheda locality here, on December 24 with symptoms of respiratory infection.</p>
<p>After tests, he was found positive for the HMPV, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's in-charge medical officer of health Bhavin Solanki said.</p>
<p>"HMPV (infection) was detected in the patient on December 26, but we learnt about it today as the private hospital reported it to us late," Solanki said.</p>
<p>The patient was kept in isolation, the official said.</p>
<p>Earlier, the child was kept on a ventilator, and his condition is stable now, Solanki said.</p>
<p>Before this, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has detected two cases of HMPV in Karnataka through routine surveillance for multiple respiratory viral pathogens.</p>
<p>Patel said the state Health and Family Welfare Department is on alert and has made preparations and arrangements to tackle this viral infection.</p>
<p>"As part of the precautionary measures, the health department held a meeting on January 4 and instructed every chief district health officer, civil surgeon, superintendents of sub-district hospitals in the state to pay full attention to matters related to the infection of this virus," he said.</p>
<p>Arrangements will be made for the diagnosis of HMPV in various government hospitals, the minister said.</p>
<p>He asked people not to panic, but understand the viral infection symptoms and take measures accordingly.</p>
<p>The Union health ministry has emphasised that HMPV is already in circulation globally, including in India, and cases of respiratory illnesses associated with it have been reported in various countries.</p>
<p>Furthermore, based on the current data from the ICMR and the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) network, there has been no unusual surge in Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) or Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) cases in the country, it said.</p>
<p>Amid reports of rising cases of respiratory illnesses in China in the past few weeks, a meeting of the Joint Monitoring Group (JMG) was held under the chairmanship of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.</p>

<p>Gujarat Police has suspended three police personnel and terminated the services of seven Traffic Brigade (TRB) staffers for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a Delhi-based businessman for carrying a liquor bottle in his car, an official said.</p>
<p>The action came after businessman Kanav Manchanda posted a video accusing police personnel of extracting Rs 20,000 from him during his city visit on Sunday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic-East), Safin Hasan, said on Tuesday.</p>
<p>Although Manchanda, who came to Ahmedabad from Delhi to watch the final match of the ICC World Cup on Sunday in his car, did not lodge any formal complaint, the police took cognisance of his viral video and took action against 10 cops who were allegedly involved in the act, Hasan said.</p>
<p>"While we have already ordered a detailed inquiry into the alleged incident, our preliminary probe revealed this incident did take place. We have suspended three of our policemen and terminated the services of seven TRB jawans for their alleged role. The suspended cops include one head constable and two constables," the DCP said.</p>
<p>In the video, Manchanda said he was stopped by some policemen at Nana Chiloda circle on the outskirts of the city on Sunday morning when he was on his way to the Narendra Modi Stadium in his car.</p>
<p>Since he was carrying a liquor bottle in his car, police allegedly asked him to pay a bribe promising that no action would be taken against him considering that Gujarat is a dry state. Finally, the policemen settled for Rs 20,000, which Manchanda claimed to have paid through UPI.</p>
<p>To back his claim, Manchanda shared the screenshot of his mobile phone which suggested that he had paid Rs 20,000 to one Arun Hadiyol as directed by the cops.</p>
<p>"Since the victim has not lodged any complaint, we have sent our team to Delhi to take his detailed statement and also a formal complaint if he wishes to. The person who received the money through UPI will also be called for investigation," Hasan said.</p>

<p>The affordability index published by Knight Frank evaluates the affordability of living in a particular city by considering the EMIs required for a resident to purchase a home using a loan. This cost is then divided by the total income of an average household within that city.</p>
<p>So, a Knight Frank Affordability index level of 40% for a city implies that on average, households in that city need to spend 40% of their income to fund the EMI of housing loan for that unit.</p>
<p>An EMI ratio over 50% is considered unaffordable as it is the limit beyond which banks rarely underwrite a mortgage.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Whereas, on the other hand, Mumbai is the most expensive housing market. The home loan EMI ratio is a whopping 55% means that the average household needs to pay more than half its income.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The driver of the luxury car, Tathya Patel who ran over a crowd killing 9 people on the ISKCON flyover in Gujarat's Ahmedabad was arrested on Thursday.</p>
<p>The police took Patel and his father to the spot where he ran over the crowd. The accused is reportedly a rapper and has a Youtube Channel.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The deceased were among the people who had gathered at an accident site when the speeding car drove into them</p>
<p>Over a dozen people were left injured in the crash and were rushed to the hospital.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel announced a compensation of ₹4 lakh for the families of each deceased, and ₹50,000 for the injured.</p>

11 people have reportedly been injured after a building balcony collapsed as a Rath Yatra procession passed by in Ahmedabad.

<p>A man died and five others were injured after a balcony of a dilapidated house on the route of the annual Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra procession collapsed in Dariapur locality in Ahmedabad on Tuesday afternoon, police said.</p>
<p>Some of the injured were standing on the second-storey balcony watching the chariot procession while some were standing underneath, said inspector J S Chaudhary of Dariapur police station.</p>
<p>They were rushed to the civil hospital where Mehul Panchal (36) died during treatment while the condition of the other five was said to be stable, he said.</p>
<p>Videos of the incident showed three persons standing on the balcony as the 146th annual Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra was passing.</p>
<p>The two-storey building was said to be old and dilapidated. The administration had taken special precautions to ensure that no such incident took place during the Rath Yatra, officials said.</p>
<p>As police personnel rushed to help those who were injured in the collapse, the procession continued.</p>

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited his mother at a hospital in Ahmedabad after she was admitted on Tuesday night. 

<p>The UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology &amp; Research Centre has issued a statement saying that the condition of PM Modi's 99-year-old mother is stable.</p>

<p>&nbsp;Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Hiraben (99) was on Wednesday admitted to a super-specialty hospital here due to some health issues, and her condition is stable, hospital authorities said.</p>
<p>Modi visited the hospital in the afternoon to meet his ailing mother. After reaching Ahmedabad, he drove to the hospital and remained there for over an hour.</p>
<p>While leaving the hospital, Modi folded his hands in the 'namaste' pose to the crowd and waiting media persons.</p>
<p>Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel also visited the hospital to inquire about the health of Hiraben.</p>

<p>BJP MP Jugalji Thakor said Hiraben&rsquo;s condition is stable and she might be discharged in a day or two.</p>
<p>Hiraben, also called Hiraba, was admitted to U N Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre, a government-funded autonomous hospital situated in the campus of the civil hospital, in the morning.</p>
<p>"Prime Minister's mother is admitted to U N Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre, Ahmedabad, and her condition is stable" said the hospital in a statement.</p>
<p>"She has been admitted to the hospital for a check-up. Her condition is normal. PM Modi's elder brother Somabhai is also present in the hospital," BJP MLA from Dariapur Kaushik Jain told PTI.</p>
<p>Hiraben lives in Raysan village near Gandhinagar city with PM Modi's younger brother Pankaj Modi. The PM regularly visits Raysan and spends time with his mother during most of his Gujarat visits.&nbsp;</p>
