The BJP has alleged&nbsp;that the <a href="https://www.editorji.com/entertainment-news/bollywood/multiplex-association-of-india-writes-to-delhi-govt-over-shutting-cinemas-bollywood-backs-1640773414588" target="_blank">Delhi government</a> is opening liquor shops illegally across the city under its new excise policy. Shops are being opened near residential and religious places, the party leaders has claimed.
The Delhi BJP leaders said that the protest will continue until the <a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/politics/delhi-bjp-mp-waved-liquor-bottles-in-parliament-here-s-why-1638849797307" target="_blank">new liquor policy</a> is rolled back.
Since the introduction of the new excise policy, the BJP has been protesting against the Kejriwal government in Delhi. Close to 850 liquor shops were supposed to open up as the Delhi government has exited from the liquor business.

AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday tore into Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, saying he only constructed crematoriums in the state and made "arrangements" to dispatch a large number of people there, apparently referring to the second Covid wave.Addressing his party’s rally here, the Delhi CM said coronavirus arrangements in UP earned a bad name for the state and now in a cover-up exercise, the state government is splurging public money on advertisements.
In an apparent reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the AAP leader said,"In 2017, the BJP's tallest leader had said if 'kabristans' (cemeteries) are made in Uttar Pradesh, then 'samshans (crematoriums) should also come up." "Unfortunately, Yogi Adityanath in the past five years only constructed crematoriums and made arrangements to send a large section of citizens there," Kejriwal said.
He said Uttar Pradesh had earned a bad name throughout the world for making bad arrangements during the second Covid wave.
"If there was any state in the world that had made the worst arrangements to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, it was Uttar Pradesh," he said.
"In order to cover its misdemeanour, the UP government had given 10-page advertisements in US magazines, splurging the hard earned money of people," he alleged.

Kejriwal said his government has run a scheme under which people of different faiths are being taken to pilgrimage to places like Dwarka, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Ajmer Sharif.
Recently around 2,000 devotees returned from Ayodhya as part of this scheme, he said.
Kejriwal promised to provide 300 units of electricity free, 10 lakh jobs and Rs 1,000 every month to women above 18 years of age if his party is voted to power in the state.

Delhi Mohalla Clinic: Three children died at a Delhi hospital due to drug poisoning after consuming a cough syrup allegedly prescribed by mohalla clinic doctors. The BJP and the Congress demanded the resignation of <a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/omicron-scare-arvind-kejriwal-says-no-oxygen-shortage-no-need-to-panic-1639991779728" target="_blank">Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal</a> and Health Minister Satyendar Jain over the incident and compensation for the families of the three children.
According to officials, the Centre-run Kalawati Saran Children's Hospital reported 16 cases of dextromethorphan poisoning among children aged between one and six from June 29 to November 21.
Officials said that most of the children complained of respiratory depression.
Health Minister Satyendar Jain informed that three doctors have been terminated and the matter is being probed. He assured that the guilty will not be spared.

Dextromethorphan is one of the most widely used cough suppressants. However, it is subject to abuse. The consumption of high doses of the drug can lead to insomnia, dilated pupils, dizziness, nausea, restlessness, dizziness, shallow breathing and diarrhoea, etc.

Amid Omicron threat, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said all new positive cases of coronavirus being reported in the city will be sent for genome sequencing. The CM also appealed to the Centre to allow booster dose for health workers and others.

The court also came down hard on the Delhi government over its 'Red Light On, Gaadi Off' campaign to curb vehicular pollution, saying it was nothing but a popular slogan.
"Poor young boys standing in the middle of the road with banners, who is taking care of their health?" an angry court asked.
In response, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing the Delhi govt, said the "boys" were civil volunteers.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had initiated the 'Red Light On, Gaadi Off' campaign from October 21 to November 15, saying that even if 10 lakh vehicles in the city joined the campaign, the PM10 levels would fall by 1.5 tonnes and PM2.5 by 0.4 tonnes in a year.

Kejriwal had on Sunday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop flights coming to India from countries affected by the new variant with immediate effect.
In view of the new Covid variant, a number of countries, including the European Union, have suspended travel to the affected regions, he had said in his letter.
The Centre on last Thursday had asked all states and Union Territories to conduct rigorous screening and testing of all international travellers coming from or transiting through South Africa, Hong Kong and Botswana, where the variant of serious public health implications has been reported.

These experts, he said, would make a presentation to the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), he said, to suggest steps to protect the national capital from the B.1.1.529 strain.

The Supreme Court on Monday came down heavily on the Delhi government over the issue of rising pollution in the Capital.
The court slammed the Arvind Kejriwal government for coming up with "lame excuses" and "passing the buck" on the pollution emergency.
The court warned the Delhi government that if it continued with its "lame excuses:, it will be forced to hold an audit of the govt revenue earnings and the "amount it is spending on popularity slogans".
The Delhi government on Monday submitted an affidavit in the top court listing steps it is taking to control pollution. Unhappy with the government response, the Supreme Court said that Delhi govt affidavit is all about bashing farmers and how the entire cause is stubble burning.
"We have come to the conclusion that stubble burning is not the major cause of pollution and now it contributes to only 10% to Delhi's air pollution", the court noted.
The court said that major culprits of air pollution are transport, industries, vehicular traffic apart from stubble burning in some areas, and asked the Delhi government what steps it is taking to curb those.

The Delhi Ration doorstep delivery scheme which was to be launched in March this year is a nameless scheme over which the centre and Delhi government are disparaging each other. The easiest way to describe the scheme is that the food that ration cardholders get from the government-designated vendors at subsidised prices would be directly delivered at home.

Kejriwal&rsquo;s scheme broadly has two parts: procuring and distributing&hellip;
So first up, from where will the CM procure the foodgrains?
The Delhi State Civil Supplies Corporation limited will select some millers who will pick foodgrains from 6 godowns of the Food Corporation of India that falls under the ambit of centre. After which, the foodgrains will be processed.
Without this scheme, ration holders directly collect their &lsquo;unprocessed&rsquo; ration from the appointed fair price shops.
Distribution:
Delhi Consumer&rsquo;s Co-operative Wholesale Store Limited that runs the fair price shops would bring in private agencies for direct delivery of processed foodgrains at the same subsidised prices. However, the ration cardholders will have to bear an &lsquo;uncertain&rsquo; additional charge of the processing of the foodgrains.
Just like Groffers, Big Basket, this scheme too shall bring in the ease of deciding the quantity of ration. As per the scheme, the ration holder can either order their monthly ration in one go or in installments.
Each time, at the consumer&rsquo;s doorstep, the ration cardholder will have to take a biometric verification before delivery.
So where is the issue?
The Centre has turned down Delhi&rsquo;s request for approval of their flagship scheme for the third time now. Every time the centre has stated different issues with the implementation of the scheme.
Let&rsquo;s look at the main issues that the&nbsp;BJP govt has pointed out:
1. Scheme not in accordance with the law
The ration card system falls under the National Food Security Act 2013, which ensures adequate quality and quantity of nutritional food to every Indian. Under this Act, Delhi has 17.78 lakh ration card holding families for which Delhi has over 2000 fair price shops for the distribution.

2. Tweaking a national programme for political benefit
The Centre secures highly subsidised food grains for FCI from where the states lift their portion. The Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution has said that for the scheme they cannot use FCI procured food grains.
The AAP says Centre fears that the whole credit of food security policy will go to the Kejriwal government who hasn&rsquo;t ideated it in the first place. Due to this, they also raised the issue of the name and asked the AAP govt to drop Mukhya Mantri which Delhi government accepted.

As per the NFSA, the centre is in charge of the procurement, storage, transportation, and bulk allocation of the foodgrains to different states, and the States are required to identify the beneficiaries and look after the distribution of the ration.
Kejriwal's ambitious scheme which AAP has been talking about since 2015, got a go-ahead from Delhi High Court. The HC ruled that the specified portions of the beneficiaries who want to avail the service of doorstep delivery should not be sent to the designated shops.
But despite HC&rsquo;s nod, Centre disapproved AAP&rsquo;s demand.

1. Stubble burning: Kejiwal said a decomposer has been prepared with the help of Pusa Institute, explaining that when it is sprayed on the crop residue will eliminate the need to burn it. He added that Delhi, Punjab and other states too can do the same.&nbsp;
2. Anti-dust campaign to be strengthened: The government has formed 75 teams that will survey the entire national capital and impose heavy penalties on those who are found violating the dust pollution norms.&nbsp;

Kejriwal has promised to implement the Delhi health model in Punjab. This will include:
Free and best treatment to every Punjab resident
All medicines, tests, operations to be free of cost in government hospitals in the state. "Even costly operations costing ₹15 lakh will be free," Kejriwal said.
Every Punjab citizen will get a health card. That card will have all the information and reports pertaining to the person.
16,000 Pind Clinics will be opened on the lines of Delhi's Mohalla Clinics.
The AAP chief promised that infrastructure of all government hospitals in state will be improved and they will be made fully air-conditioned
In case of accident, the person will be rushed to the nearest hospital and the cost will be borne by the Punjab Government irrespective of whether it is a private or govt hospital, the Delhi CM said.
