At the peak of the outage, at about 0035 GMT, DownDetector said more than 10,000 people reported problems with the platform, which is now owned by the mercurial billionaire Elon Musk.

Thousands of Twitter users reported an outage on Wednesday, according to tracking sites Downdetector.com and Netblocks, but the issue appeared to be resolving, with error messages and missing tweets reappearing.
At the peak of the outage, at about 0035 GMT, DownDetector said more than 10,000 people reported problems with the platform, which is now owned by the mercurial billionaire Elon Musk.
AFP journalists in the United States and Asia were among those experiencing difficulties.
But less than an hour later, the number of reported issues was down to just over 3,700.
"Twitter is experiencing international outages affecting the mobile app and features including notifications; incident not related to country-level internet disruptions or filtering," Netblocks said in a tweet.
Under Musk's leadership, Twitter has been riven by chaos, with mass layoffs, the return of banned accounts and the suspension of journalists critical of the South African-born billionaire.
In response to a tweet from a user asking if Twitter was "broken," Musk replied: "Works for me.

Asian region warmed faster than global average in 2021: WMO report

The economic impact of flooding was the highest in China at 18.4 billion USD, followed by India at 3.2 billion USD and Thailand at 0.6 billion USD, the report added.

The World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) in its latest report stated that Asia was warmer than the rest of the world with its average temperature in 2021 about 0.86 degree celsius higher than the average of year 1981-2010.
While for the global average, recorded temperature was about 0.42 degreee celsius higher than 1981-2010.
WMO's State of Climate report highlighted that the year 2021 was cooler for Asia than 2020.&nbsp; However more than 100 weather-related disasters resulted in over 4000 deaths and massive economic losses and deaths.
The economic impact of flooding was the highest in China at 18.4 billion USD, followed by India at 3.2 billion USD and Thailand at 0.6 billion USD, the report added.
While for cyclones, and storms the damage has been significant in India at 4.4 billion USD, followed by China at 3.0 bilion USD and Japan at 2 billion USD.
The economic losses from the natural calamities as per the report amount to over 35 billion USD in 2021, including 7.5 billion in India.

How many times have you witnessed a sporting body apologising to an athlete? Rarely, right? But it has happened with Indian star shuttler PV Sindhu and that too on her 27th birthday on Tuesday.  
Badminton Asia Technical Committee chairman Chih Shen Chen apologised to the two-time Olympic medalist for the human error made by the referee during Sindhu's semifinal match against Japan's Akane Yamaguchi at Badminton Asia Championships in April. 
The incident took place in Sindhu's match at the time when the former world champion had won the first set and was leading 14-11 in the second game. Sindhu was handed a point penalty for time wasting which shifted the momentum on Yamaguchi's side. The game then went to a decider which the current world champion Yamaguchi won.  
Sindhu didn't waste time and had written a letter to the world body and the Asia badminton confederation protesting against the umpiring. 
Apologising to Sindhu, the official said in a letter that there is no rectification at this time and they have taken the necessary steps to avoid a repetition of this human error.
"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. We believe it is part of the sport and that it is accepted as such," the letter further reads.
The Hyderabad shuttler compromised with a bronze medal and didn't appear in the medal ceremony to show her dissatisfaction.
