It was a momentous day in South Africa's East London as Bangladesh Women registered a historic victory over the Proteas in the first game of the 3-match ODI series.&nbsp; The 119-run victory is monumental for more than one reason. For starters, it is Bangladesh Women's first ODI victory over South Africa in 5 years.&nbsp; Secondly, it is their biggest margin of victory ever, while batting first. This happened as they were defending a total of 250, their highest-ever made in the first innings of an ODI game.&nbsp; For Bangladesh, Murshida Khatun starred with a career-best unbeaten 91 off 100 balls as other batters failed to even get past 38.&nbsp; The South African women managed to take just 3 wickets between them.&nbsp; In reply, Bangladesh spinners skittled out the hosts for 131 in 36.3 overs.&nbsp; The second ODI of the series will take place in Potchefstroom on December 20.&nbsp;

Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed the development to Cricbuzz.com and the cricket body is hopeful of appointing a new head coach before the England series in March.
The South African, who took over as Bangladesh's head coach in September 2019, was originally supposed to stay on till the 2023 ODI World Cup.&nbsp;
Under his guidance, Bangladesh won its first-ever Test in New Zealand, won ODI series against South Africa &amp; India as well T20I series against Australia &amp; New Zealand at home.

Washington Sundar has picked up five wickets in the two preceding matches of the series where India ended up on the losing side.

Washington Sundar who has remained out for most of 2022 due to injuries passed with flying colors in India&rsquo;s lost causes against Bangladesh &amp; New Zealand in the two 3-match ODI series.&nbsp;
The all-rounder who has been India&rsquo;s go-to man in trouble situations in both the 50-over series has aced with the willow and the ball in hand. Just before the 3rd ODI, the 23-year-old said that he wants to be a player who could play in any situation and wherever the team needs him. 'Whatever positions demand me to do, I have been practising that way. I have been working in those specific manners,' Washington said.&nbsp;
Sundar whose focus is set on the World Cup 2023 further said that he was glad that his hard work was reaping dividends. The all-rounder, who has picked up five wickets in the two preceding matches of the series where India ended up on the losing side further added, 'I want to be a player who could play in any situation, in any sort of combination, and wherever the team needs it. To win games, wherever they ask me to play, I will play. That's the kind of player I want to be.' In New Zealand's rain-heckled series too, Sundar played 2 important knocks of 37 off 16 in first ODI that India lost and 51 off 64 balls in the 3rd ODI which got called off eventually.&nbsp;

Mahmudullah went back to the pavilion in the 47th over but Mehidy continued from the other end and went on to score his maiden ODI hundred. Thus powering the host to a competitive 271-7 in 50 overs.

Bangladeshi veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has decided to bring the curtains down on his International T20 career on Sunday.Mushfiqur Rahim broke the news on Twitter as he wrote that he will now only 'focus on Test and ODI formats of the game.' and 'will be available to play franchise leagues when the opportunity arrives.' His decision comes after Bangladesh was knocked out of the Asia Cup with no wins to their name.The 35 year old looked woefully out of form throughout the entire tournament as he scored only five runs in two games. In a press conference, BCB president Nazmul Hassan said, "They will be in the positions until a further decision is made."

This is Shakib's third term as a Test captain of Bangladesh. The 35-year old allrounder was appointed as a captain of Bangladesh in 2009 but later was dismissed from captaincy in 2011. The BCB president further added, "We had three names in our hand. If Shakib was not interested we would have chosen the duo from the three available options."
Shakib has captained Bangladesh in 14 Test matches in which the team won 3 and lost 11 matches.

Bangladesh cricket team have created history on Wednesday when they defeated World Test Champions New Zealand in their own backyard. The Bangla Tigers were truly exceptional in their approach in the first Test of two-match series as they comprehensively won the match by 8 wickets.
The story of Bangladesh's first Test win in New Zealand started with restricting the hosts under 350 in the first innings and then batting for 176.2 overs in their first innings and taking a healthy 130-run lead.
In the first innings, they blunted the threat of Southee-Boult new ball threat thrice as they scored 458 runs with Mominul Haq and Liton Das scoring 88 and 86 respectively.
However, it was Ebadot Hossain who made a significant contribution in scripting the history of the Bengal Tigers. New Zealand were cruising at 136-2 in their second innings when Hossain ran riot with pace and reverse swing taking three wickets to reduce the Kiwis to 136-5 on Day 4.
Bangladesh were chasing history on Day 5 but with experienced Ross Taylor at the crease, the Black Caps might have thought of drawing the Test. However, Ebadot cleaned up the veteran in the second over of Day 5 and returned with the figure of 6-46. The remaining Kiwis' wickets fell like a house of cards with the visitors needing only 40 runs to win.
Bangladesh mopped up the target before Lunch on the final day by losing only two wickets and thus winning their first Test match in New Zealand.

He further added that he can play Tests and ODIs but playing all three formats is close to impossible.
The 34-year all-rounder also said that he will plan it with Bangladesh Cricket Board and then go forward.
Shakib has scored 12,523 runs across formats &amp; has also been Bangladesh's highest wicket-taker in international cricket. He picked up 215 wickets in Tests while 277 and 177 in ODIs and T20Is respectively.
