Jain alleges that Swaraj, during her interview on October 5, 2023, falsely claimed that ₹3 crore, 1.8 kilograms of gold, and 133 gold coins were recovered from his residence. He contends that these allegations were entirely baseless and politically motivated to damage his reputation.
Furthermore, Jain claims that Swaraj's accusations of him being "corrupt" and "fraudulent" were malicious and caused significant harm to his personal and professional standing. Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi is likely to move the Supreme Court "very soon" against the Gujarat High Court order rejecting his plea for a stay on his conviction in a defamation case.
Party sources said the petition may be filed in the Supreme Court within this week as work on it is underway.
Asked about it at a party briefing, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said an appeal will be filed very soon.
"It will be very soon. It is under preparation. Nearest future, you will come to know of that," he said.
Singhvi is also the lawyer appearing for Rahul Gandhi in the case.

he Congress on Thursday dubbed the conviction of Rahul Gandhi by a Surat court in a defamation case as an "infirm, erroneous and unsustainable judgement" that will be immediately challenged in a higher court and expressed hope that it will be stayed and quashed soon.
Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said the Gujarat trial court has given a 170-page judgement which is still subject to translation and the party is working towards filing an appeal against it in a higher court.
Singhvi said the Congress has faith in the judiciary and will seek legal recourse to the Surat court verdict and get relief, while noting that even though this judgement is "erroneous", in-built corrective measures exist within the judicial system and "we will certainly invoke them".

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will appear before a court in Gujarat's Surat city on Thursday when it is expected to deliver its verdict in a 2019 criminal defamation case filed against him over his "Modi surname" remarks, party leaders said on Wednesday.
The case was filed against Gandhi for his alleged &ldquo;how come all the thieves have Modi as the common surname?&rdquo; remarks on a complaint lodged by BJP MLA and former Gujarat minister Purnesh Modi. The Lok Sabha MP from Wayanad made the alleged remarks while addressing a rally at Kolar in Karnataka ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
This will be the former Congress president's first visit to Gujarat after the conclusion of his Bharat Jodo Yatra in January.
Gandhi was in Gujarat last to campaign for the Congress for the December 2022 Assembly elections. The party won just 17 out of the total 182 seats, its worst poll performance since the formation of the state in 1960.

He had last appeared before the Surat court in the case, filed under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 499 and 500 (dealing with defamation), in October 2021 to record his statement. Before that, the Congress MP had appeared in the court to plead not guilty to charges levelled against him.
In his complaint, BJP MLA Purnesh Modi alleged that Gandhi, while addressing the poll rally in 2019, defamed the entire Modi community by purportedly saying, "How come all the thieves have Modi as the common surname?" Modi was a minister in the first tenure of the Bhupendra Patel government. The ruling party legislator was re-elected from the Surat West Assembly seat in the December elections.
The final arguments resumed in the case last month after the Gujarat High Court vacated its stay on proceedings imposed on plea by the complainant demanding Gandhi's personal appearance.
The lawyer for the complainant argued that CDs and pen drive containing the materials on Gandhi's Kolar speech established that the Congress MP indeed made the Modi surname remarks, and his utterances defamed the community.
Gandhi's lawyer has argued that the court proceedings were "flawed" from the beginning as procedure laid down under section 202 of the CrPC (Code of Criminal Procedure) was not followed. The CrPC section deals with postponement of issue of process.
The lawyer also argued that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and not MLA Purnesh Modi, should have been the complainant in the case because the PM was the main target of Gandhi's speech.

Kangana's complaints were in response to a defamation suit by the veteran lyricist, who has alleged she dragged his name into a TV discussion last year on the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
The two came face-to-face at the Mumbai court, where Kangana arrived accompanied by her enhanced CRPF security entourage.
During the hearing, Kangana's lawyer, Rizwan Siddique, accused Javed Akhtar of making threatening phone calls, in which he allegedly said "... you would commit suicide".
Kangana had been originally called to the court last week, but stayed away citing ill health, her lawyer had said he had "developed Covid-19 symptoms". Kangana's lawyer also said that the actor wants the judge in this case to be changed.
The court had warned Kangana that failing to appear would result in an arrest warrant against her. On Monday, the court marked her attendance and postponed the hearing till October 1.
Kangana has also filed an application to transfer the case; which will be heard on November 15.
