Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, have addressed the case filed against them under the POCSO Act concerning inappropriate content in ALTBalaji's web series Gandii Baat. In an official statement released on Tuesday, they denied the allegations and emphasized their lack of involvement in the day-to-day operations of the company.
ALTBalaji&rsquo;s Instagram account shared the statement, asserting that the company adheres to all applicable laws, including the POCSO Act, and any claims regarding the engagement of minors are entirely inaccurate. The statement highlighted that both Shobha and Ekta Kapoor are not involved in the daily management of the company, which is overseen by separate teams, including content strategy.
The statement further expressed the company's confidence in the judicial system and its commitment to cooperating with authorities during the investigation. Due to the ongoing legal proceedings, ALTBalaji refrained from offering additional comments at this time.
The Mumbai Police have interrogated Ekta and Shobha Kapoor, who were booked under the POCSO Act for allegedly depicting inappropriate scenes featuring minor girls in Gandii Baat. During their questioning, they were instructed to return on October 24. The police are seeking information about the actors involved in the series and will also be recording statements from the cast and director.
The case pertains to Season 6 of Gandii Baat, which aired on the OTT platform between February and April 2021. The complaint alleges that certain episodes featured obscene content involving minors, although the controversial episode in question is currently not available for streaming on the platform.
In other news, Ekta Kapoor's latest drama film, Love, Sex aur Dhokha 2, was released in theaters on April 19. Directed by Dibakar Banerjee, the film confronts audiences with the stark reality of a digitally obsessed society, featuring a poster that captures a couple entangled in both intimacy and technological detachment.

Ekta Kapoor, who is gearing up for the release of the anthology &lsquo;Love Sex Aur Dokha 2&rsquo;, discussed why she might need to go into hiding after the release of Dibakar Banerjee's film.
In an interview with Variety, Ekta said, &lsquo;It (Thank You For Coming) has left a very strange pain in my heart because the way that film was and the kind of reception it got in India, vis-a-vis the reception it got overseas, I don&rsquo;t know what happened&rsquo;.&nbsp;
&lsquo;Thank You For Coming,&rsquo; starring Bhumi Pednekar, was co-produced by Ekta and Rhea Kapoor. Despite glowing reviews after premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival, the film failed at the Indian box office.
Ekta expressed concern about the backlash she received for &lsquo;Thank You For Coming,&rsquo; leaving her to wonder how much controversy the even bolder &lsquo;LSD 2&rsquo; would stir upon its release.
&lsquo;And the hate spamming we went through &ndash; our walls used to be spammed every day with hatred, because we attempted to discover and make a movie on female sexuality. I can only imagine what&rsquo;s gonna happen when LSD 2 comes. I think I&rsquo;ll have to hide again,&rsquo; she added.

&lsquo;LSD 2&rsquo; is the sequel to the groundbreaking found-footage anthology &lsquo;Love, Sex Aur Dhokha,&rsquo; directed by Dibakar Banerjee and produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures. It also marked the debut of actor Rajkummar Rao.
&lsquo;It wasn't my idea, it was Ekta's idea. She suggested that enough time had passed and society had changed so much that we could make LSD 2,&rsquo; said Dibakar to ANI.&nbsp;
&lsquo;In the time of LSD 2, our virtual life has now completely dominated our real life. So this virtual life that we live in, I wanted to see how it was happening,&rsquo; he added.
&lsquo;LSD 2&rsquo; is slated to release in cinemas on April 19.

In an interview with Bollywood life, Jay revealed why they chose to take the OTT route, rather than releasing the film in theatres, and shut down rumours of producer Ekta Kapoor being miffed.
&lsquo;The thing is we started work on Freddy last year, and always had an OTT release in mind. Yes, after the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 a lot of people questioned us on why we are not bringing Freddy on the big screen. But the film has been designed for OTT from day one. We never planned to bring it on a big screen,&rsquo; he said.
The producer also praised Kartik and said, &lsquo;Working with him is a dream. He is a thorough professional, and he is all there for a film. The Supreme Court slammed Ekta over 'objectionable content' in her web series, and said that she was 'polluting the minds of the young generation'. The apex court also questioned her counsel about what kind of choice she is providing to the people.
SC bench consisting of Justices Ajay Rastogi and C.T. Ravikumar heard a plea filed by Ekta Kapoor challenging her arrest warrant for allegedly insulting soldiers and hurting the sentiments of their families through the content in her web series 'XXX', which streamed on her OTT platform ALTBalaji.
Hearing the petition, the court stated 'Something has to be done. You are polluting the minds of the young generation of this country. It is available to all. OTT (Over The Top) content is available to all. What kind of choice are you providing to the people?....on the contrary you are polluting the minds of youngsters'.
Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, Ekta&rsquo;s defence lawyer, has requested the court to provide protection for her citing the decision of the court in the past on the similar matter. He defended Ekta's freedom of choice and said the content in question is subscription based.

Ekta Kapoor has come up and shared how she feels about the boycott against Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha. Calling Aamir a ‘Soft Ambassador’, the TV Producer said that all the Khans in the industry are legends especially Aamir Khan’ and that we cannot boycott them.  
Laal Singh Chaddha is directed by Advait Chandan and is an Indian adaptation of the 1994 Hollywood movie Forest Gump. The movie could not cross even Rs 50 crore during the long weekend extended with festival holidays release. The first weekend wrapped up for the movie with a mere Rs 46 crore. 
Ekta expressed her disappointment at boycott of the movie. During the interview with Navbharat Times, she said, ‘It is so strange we are boycotting the very people who have given the best of business in the industry.’ She further added, ‘Aamir Khan can never be boycotted, the soft ambassador Aamir Khan cannot be boycotted." 
Amid the boycott calls against Laa Singh Chaddha, a police complaint was also filed against Aamir Khan, Paramount Pictures (producers) and several others stating that the movie disrespected the Indian Army and Hindu sentiments.  Other than Aamir Khan, the movie also stars Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya in the lead roles.

Ekta was always confident about the show and choosing Kangana as the show host. Commenting on it, Kangana says, "There were so many FIRs on me (laughs) and scrutiny by the industry. The credit goes to her [Ekta]. I thought that I might be good, but it will take time to get accepted. Thankfully, the contestants are so good, and everybody is just so brilliant together," she adds.
Since the audience has accepted you as a reality show host, how do you feel now? "I guess I didn't take as much time as I expected to get good at it. It's unrealistic to expect yourself to just do well in the first 5-6 episodes. I thought I'd probably take time to get the hang of it. But, as I said, the contestants are so good&hellip;and there is a huge system that is behind it which may not be evident to others. Ekta has gone for all the top people. Speaking to the media, Ekta Kapoor said that the show will keep the audience on the edge of their seats. She added that everything will be double this time - threat, drama, mystery, passion and revenge.  What’s interesting is that yesteryear superstar and Ekta Kapoor’s father Jeetendra will be reportedly making a cameo in the show.
The show will start streaming from 18th March exclusively on Voot Select. The show’s first series was released in 2018, which received a good response from the audience.
