According to railway authorities of the Ferozepur division, 12 trains were cancelled, two each were short-terminated and short-originated and 34 trains were delayed because of farmers' protest at 52 places.

Train services in Punjab were affected as farmers squatted on rail tracks at more than 50 places on Wednesday as part of their three-hour 'Rail Roko' protest to press the Centre to accept their various demands, including a legally binding minimum support price (MSP) for crops.
The call for the 'rail roko' was given by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha.
Kisan Mazdoor Morcha leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said farmers blocked rail tracks at many places from 12 noon to 3 pm as both state and central governments had deliberately adopted an indifferent approach towards them.
According to railway authorities of the Ferozepur division, 12 trains were cancelled, two each were short-terminated and short-originated and 34 trains were delayed because of farmers' protest at 52 places.
Among the trains cancelled were Jalandhar to Hoshiarpur, Amritsar to Qadian, Pathankot to Verka and Hoshiarpur to Jalandhar City.
Trains that were delayed were stopped at places where passengers could get tea and meals, the officials said.
Protesting farmers blocked train routes at many places, including Moga, Faridkot, Kadian and Batala in Gurdaspur; Phillaur in Jalandhar; Tanda, Dasuya, Mahilpur in Hoshiarpur; Makhu, Talwandi Bhai in Ferozepur; Sahnewal in Ludhiana; Shambhu in Patiala; Mohali; Sunam and Lehra in Sangrur, Rampura Phul in Bathinda and Devidaspura in Amritsar.
The Humsafar Express from Jammu to Sealdah, Dadar Express from Amritsar to Mumbai and Shan-e-Punjab Express from New Delhi to Amritsar were halted at different platforms of the Ludhiana railway station.

In Hoshiarpur, farmers blocked the Jalandhar-Jammu rail track at railway stations Bhangala, Dasuya, and Tanda.
They also blocked the rail-road crossing at Mandiala village and the Hoshiarpur Railway Station on the Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur section, disrupting rail traffic in the area.
Due to the rail blockade, a train from Jammu to Ahmedabad was halted at Mukerian Railway Station.
Deepak Singh (25), a resident of Tarn Taran who was travelling with his wife, two children, and brother after visiting the Dera Baba Gur Bar Bhag Singh shrine in Una (Himachal Pradesh), was among the passengers who faced inconvenience due to the rail traffic disruption.
He said that he had been waiting for over two hours at Hoshiarpur railway station for the train to Jalandhar.
Manoj Yadav (35), a mason from Chhattisgarh, currently residing in Narain Nagar, Hoshiarpur, also shared his ordeal.
He was travelling with his wife and two children to Chhattisgarh. Given the long distance, he said that trains were the only suitable option for their journey, leaving them with no choice but to wait for the protest to end.
In Amritsar, farmers blocked the Amritsar-Delhi rail track as they squatted on the track at Devidaspura village near the Manawala railway station.
Farmer leader Pandher said the farmers were demanding a legal guarantee of MSP for crops, along with debt waiver, and pensions for farmers and labourers. He alleged that both state and central governments had "deliberately adopted an indifferent approach towards the farmers".
On the Ambala-Chandigarh railway line, hundreds of farmers squatted near Sarsini village of Punjab, about 5 km from Ambala City.
Farmers under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have been camping at Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana since February 13 after their march to Delhi was stopped by security forces.
For the past three weeks, Punjab farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been on a fast-unto-death at the Khanauri border point between Punjab and Haryana to press the Centre to accept the agitating farmers' demands, including a legal guarantee of MSP on crops.
A "jatha" (group) of 101 farmers made three attempts to enter Delhi on foot on December 6, December 8 and again on December 14. However, Haryana security personnel did not allow them to proceed.
Among the farmers' demands are no hike in the electricity tariff, withdrawal of police cases and "justice" for the victims of the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence, reinstatement of the Land Acquisition Act, 2013, and compensation to the families of the farmers who died during a previous agitation in 2020-21.

The police have also issued traffic advisory for the commuters to avoid roads leading to central Delhi, they said.
The umbrella body of farmers' organisations, Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), which had spearheaded the 2020-21 farmers' protest at Delhi borders against the three central agri laws, has said they will hold a 'Kisan Mazdoor Mahapanchayat' at the Ramlila Maidan where a resolution will be passed to "intensify the fight" against the policies of the government.
The SKM in a statement issued on Tuesday said that the Delhi Police have given them the NOC for conducting the mahapanchayat at Ramlila Maidan on March 14 and arranging parking space and other basic amenities like water, toilets and ambulance with the support of the municipal administration of Delhi.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (central) M Harsha Vardhan told PTI that farmers are allowed to hold the 'mahapanchayat' with the gathering to not significantly exceed 5,000.
He said the farmers have given them the undertaking where they were asked to not come with tractors, without any weapon and also promised that they will not hold any march in Delhi.
Another police officer said the farmers have also been asked to vacate the ground soon after culmination of their programme after 2.30 pm.
He said strict action may be taken if they dont follow the undertakings and indulge in breaking the law and order in Delhi.
"We hope the SKM leadership will abide by the undertaking they have given to us," the DCP said.
The traffic may be affected in various parts of Delhi due to the farmers gathering at the Ramlila Maidan on Thursday, police said.
According to a Delhi Traffic Police statement, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Barakhamba Road, Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, Tolstoy Marg, Asaf Ali Road, Jai Singh Road, Swami Vivekanand Marg, Sansad Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg, Baba Kharag Singh Marg, Minto Road, Ashoka Road, Maharaja Ranjeet Singh flyover, Connaught Circus, Bhavbhuti Marg, DDU Marg and Chaman Lal Marg are likely to be affected due to the farmers gathering in Delhi.
The advisory said the traffic may be diverted on Delhi Gate, Mir Dard Chowk, Ajmeri Gate Chowk, Guru Nanak Chowk, Kamla Market, Paharganj Chowk, Jhandewalan round about, Maharaja Ranjeet Singh flyover from Barakhambha Road to Guru Nanak Chowk, Barakhamba Road, Janpath Road, KG Marg crossing and round about of GPO (Gol Post Office) from 6 am on Thursday.
The Delhi traffic police also advised the people going towards ISBT, railway station or airport to carefully plan their travel with sufficient time at hand.
"We appreciate your understanding and your cooperation towards the alleviation of traffic congestion during the above-mentioned period," the advisory said.
The three Delhi borders -- Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur -- have been witnessing a heavy deployment of paramilitary personnel to stop the ongoing protest of the farmers demanding to march to Delhi.
Hundreds of farmers are still sitting at Punjab-Haryana borders for the past one month.

Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal on Saturday urged the Centre not to run away from its responsibility of giving legal guarantee for MSP on all crops.
Citing reports, Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) leader Dallewal rejected the Centre's plan to undertake guaranteed procurement of pulses (tur, urad and masoor), maize and cotton at a Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Speaking to reporters, Dallewal asserted that farmers must be given MSP on all crops for their survival under the "C2 plus 50 per cent" formula recommended by the Swaminathan Commission.
He also rejected claims that MSP on all crops would involve a huge outlay.
Dallewal said the government is importing palm oil worth Rs 1.38 lakh crore but it cannot spend on farmers by giving them MSP on all crops.

Earlier in the day, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Centre has formed a three-member committee for negotiation with farmers.
"The centre has formed a three-member committee of Ministers and is negotiating with farmers...PM Modi has taken every step to increase the income of farmers, and he works for even the smallest farmers," she said.
"The expense of Urea has reached Rs 3,000 from Rs 300, but even today, farmers are buying it at Rs 300 because the government took the responsibility on its own shoulders...we are sincerely working on the issues regarding farmers..." the minister added.

The move came a day after the protesting farmers rejected the Centre's proposal to buy pulses, maize and cotton crops through government agencies at minimum support price (MSP) for five years, and announced to continue with their 'Delhi Chalo' agitation on Wednesday.
In the fourth round of talks with the farmer leaders on Sunday, a panel of three Union ministers proposed that government agencies would buy pulses, maize and cotton at the MSP for five years after entering into an agreement with farmers. Farmer leaders refused the proposal, saying it was not in favour of farmers.
Delhi Police officials said security personnel deployed at the three borders were on Tuesday asked to stay on alert. They said commuters might face traffic congestion.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha are spearheading the "Delhi Chalo" march.

Another officer said the Delhi Police was prepared to stop the farmers at the Delhi borders. Security personnel have been directed to not allow even a single protester or vehicle to enter Delhi, he said, adding that mock security drills were conducted during the day.
The Delhi Police has already stocked up 30,000 tear gas shells.
The officer said that checking vehicles on various roads leading to the central part of Delhi may lead to traffic congestion on Wednesday.

A bench of Acting Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia and Justice Lapita Banerji orally asked the Punjab government to ensure that farmers do not gather in large numbers.
Haryana Additional Advocate General Deepak Sabharwal said the court observed that farmers cannot use tractors and trolleys on highways according to the Motor Vehicles Act.
The court orally observed that they may go to Delhi by bus or using public transport, he said.
The state of Punjab was orally asked to not allow farmers to collect in large numbers and they are scattered, Sabharwal informed.
The bench also asked the central government to file a status report by way of an affidavit to provide details about the results of the meetings between farmer leaders and a panel of Union ministers.
The high court was hearing two petitions.
One petition has sought directions to stay all "obstructive" actions by the governments of Haryana and Punjab and the Centre against the farmers' protest while the other has sought directions to ensure no highway is blocked by the protesters and action is taken against them for blocking roads.
The hearing has been adjourned for next week.
During the last hearing on February 15, Haryana had submitted that farmers' unions are "hell bent" on stopping the lifeline of northern states and their movement has instilled a "sense of fear" among citizens of the state.

Talking to the media after the meeting, Union Minister Goyal had said, "Cooperative societies like the NCCF (National Cooperative Consumers Federation) and NAFED (National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India) will enter into a contract with those farmers who grow 'tur dal', 'urad dal', 'masoor dal' or maize for buying their crop at MSP for next five years." "There will be no limit on the quantity (purchased) and a portal will be developed for this," he had added.
Goyal has also proposed that the Cotton Corporation of India will buy cotton from farmers at MSP for five years after entering into a legal agreement with them.

Speaking to the media after a more than four-hour long meeting which commenced at 8.15 pm, Goyal said the &ldquo;innovative&rdquo; and &ldquo;out-of-the-box&rdquo; idea came up during the discussions and the farmer leaders would decide on the government's proposal by Monday morning.
"Cooperative societies like the NCCF (National Cooperative Consumers Federation) and NAFED (National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India) will enter into a contract with those farmers who grow 'tur dal', 'urad dal', 'masoor dal&rsquo; or maize for buying their crop at MSP for next five years," said Goyal.
&ldquo;There will be no limit on the quantity (purchased) and a portal will be developed for this," he added.
It will save Punjab's farming, improve the groundwater table, and save the land from getting barren which is already under stress, Goyal, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, said.
The farmers pointed out that they want to diversify into maize crops but want to avoid suffering losses when the prices drop below the MSP, said Goyal.
Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal said discussions on issues like a law on MSP, the Swaminathan Commission recommendations and loan waivers were held.
On the Centre's proposal, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said, "We will discuss in our forums on February 19-20 and take the opinion of experts regarding it and accordingly take a decision." A discussion on loan waivers and other demands is pending and we hope that these will be resolved in the next two days, Pandher said, adding that the &lsquo;Delhi Chalo&rsquo; march is currently on hold, but will resume at 11 am on February 21 if all the issues are not resolved.
Talking about the steps taken by the Narendra Modi government regarding the farm sector, Goyal said from 2014 to 2024, the government procured crops worth Rs 18 lakh crore at MSP while between 2004 and 2014, crops worth only Rs 5.50 lakh crore were procured at the assured price.
On the possibility of another meeting with the farmers, Goyal said if they take a decision on Monday, the government will proceed to hold discussions on the same lines as he urged the farmers to call off their protest.
However, he underlined that the other demands of the farmers were "deep and policy-driven" and it was not possible to find a resolution without an in-depth discussion.
"Elections are coming and a new government will be formed&hellip; discussions on such issues will continue," he said.
Meanwhile, the Punjab chief minister batted for a legal of MSP for crops to safeguard the interests of the farmers.
Mann said he raised the issue of the import of pulses from Mozambique and Columbia during the meeting.
This import is more than USD 2 billion, Mann said, adding that if MSP is given for this crop then Punjab can lead the country in the production of pulses and it will be a second green revolution.
The CM also said farmers of the state can adopt cotton and maize only if they get a guarantee for MSP on these crops and stressed that the assured marketing of these crops can encourage the farmers for crop diversification.
The CM said he participated in the meeting as an advocate of the farmers and the final decision has to be taken by the stakeholders. He said peace, and law and order must be maintained by all means during the protest.
The farmers from Punjab began their march to Delhi on Tuesday but were stopped by security personnel at Shambhu and Khanauri points on Punjab's border with Haryana as they pressed the Centre to accept their demands, including a legal guarantee for MSP on crops.
Besides, the farmers are also demanding the implementation of the Swaminathan Commission's recommendations, pension for farmers and farm labourers, farm debt waiver, no hike in electricity tariff, withdrawal of police cases and "justice" for the victims of the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence, reinstatement of the Land Acquisition Act, 2013, and compensation to the families of the farmers who died during a previous agitation in 2020-21.

Haryana security forces have used tear gas on them to try and disperse them. Police also used drones to air-drop tear gas shells on the protesting farmers.
The farmers seek to march to the national capital to press the Centre to agree to their various demands including a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price of crops, implementation of the Swaminathan Committee report, loan waiver among others.

Gandhi's telephonic conversation on Tuesday night with the injured farmer, Gurmeet Singh, was facilitated by Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Raja Warring who visited a government hospital in Rajpura town of Patiala district after the farmers clashed with Haryana Police.
In a post in Hindi on his WhatsApp channel, Gandhi said, "Talked on phone to former soldier Gurmeet Singh ji, who was seriously injured in police atrocities during the farmers' movement." Farmers on Tuesday had clashed with the Haryana Police at two border points between the states, facing tear gas and water cannons as they tried to break past barricades blocking their protest march to the national capital.
The former Congress president also asked the farmer how many protestors sustained injuries in the police action.
When the farmer spoke about the police action, Gandhi said, "it is completely wrong." "We are with you. Don't worry," Gandhi told the farmer.

Farmer leaders on Tuesday blamed the Centre for the "attack" on protesters marching towards Delhi and claimed that 60 of them were injured as police used tear gas shells at Punjab-Haryana border points.

In the order, additional chief secretary of Haryana T V S N Prasad said, "After assessment of the current prevailing law &amp; order situation in the state, the conditions are still critical and tense in the district Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa." "...There is a clear potential of disruption of public utilities, damage to public assets and amenities and disturbance of public law and order in above mentioned districts on account of misuse of internet services by way of spread of inflammatory material and false rumours," Prasad said.
The order has been issued under Section 5 of Indian Telegraph Act, 1885 and Rule 2 of Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules 2017.
According to the order, the suspension of the mobile internet services, bulk SMS (excluding banking and mobile recharge) and all dongle services, etc. provided on mobile networks except the voice calls in the jurisdiction of districts Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa has been extended till February 15.

The police used tear gas and batons to disperse the protesting farmers who were trying to cross the Haryana-Punjab Shambhu border to participate in the "Dilli Chalo' march.&nbsp;
According to reports, the Haryana police repeatedly warned the farmers before resorting to firing multiple rounds of teargas to deter farmers from breaching the cement barricades.
Visuals also showed farmers forcibly removing the cement barricade with their tractors at the border.
Earlier, many farmers were detained and their vehicles were seized at the border by Haryana police soon after farmers&rsquo; unions began the &lsquo;Dilli Chalo&rsquo; march amid heavy security.
Giving details about the tensions at the border, Inspector-General, Ambala Range, Sibash Kabiraj, told reporters, "We welcome the farmers coming from Punjab but if they travel on tractors, it will create problems for the people. They can travel on buses, trains, or by foot. If they come on tractors, we will not allow them."
"The traffic stops because of the tractors. People from Ambala and other areas around have requested the police to not allow framers to enter via tractors. And section 144 has also been imposed...," he added, &nbsp;according to ANI news agency.
According to Hinudstan Times newspaper, the farmers have been moving from the Ambala-Shambhu, Khanauri-Jind and the Dabwali borders towards Delhi.&nbsp;
Farmers began their tractor-trolleys march at 10 from Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib .&nbsp;
Meanwhile, another group is moving towards the national capital from Mehal Kalan in Sangrur through Khanauri border.
