Heavy rain lashed Haridwar on Saturday afternoon and several cars washed away after flooding in the Sukhi river here.

As the rainfed Sukhi river is generally dry, people habitually park their cars on the dry riverbed.
As the river got flooded all of a sudden, the cars were swept away in the swirling waters. The river joins the mainstream of the Ganga a short distance away.
People gathered on the bridges over the Ganga near Har ki Pauri to capture the visuals of the floating cars on mobile cameras.

After the fight got intense, people and police tried to resolve the matter but failed as both groups were seen scattering in the area and attacking each other.

A clash erupted in Haridwar between a few pilgrims from Saharanpur and the priest at the Siddhpeeth Dakshin Kali Mandir on April 14.
The video, showing two groups bashing each other with lathis, has gone viral on social media.
According to reports, the altercation occurred over a parking slip, which led to a heated argument between the two groups. The devotees allegedly assaulted the temple staff members.
Police and onlookers tried to resolve the matter, but failed to stop the two groups from scattering in the area and attacking each other.&nbsp;

One person was killed while 31 others were injured after a speeding four wheeler allegedly trampled a 'baraat' (groom's procession) in Uttarakhand's Haridwar on Friday night, police said.
According to the police the incident occurred at Bahadarabad area.
The people present at the wedding procession caught the driver and informed the police.
 Following information, a team from the local police station immediately reached the spot and those injured were rushed to a nearby hospital.
A case has been registered and the accused vehicle driver was also caught.
Officials said that a youth died on the spot while 31 were injured in the incident.
Haridwar SP Swatantra Kumar said, "A marriage procession from village Belda had reached Sardar Farm House located on Dhanori Road of Bahadarabad police station area, and preparations to welcome the procession were on. When a speeding four-wheeler came from Bahadarabad side and rammed into dancing procession. The car was going to Dhanori."
"In this accident, one of band members died was killed and 31 others were seriously injured. Following the incident, angry wedding guests thrashed the vehicle driver," the SP said.
"The accused vehicle driver has been arrested, and the vehicle has also been seized. Further investigation is underway," he added.

Sanjeev Ranjan Prasad and his wife have sought a grandchild within a year, or Rs 5 crore from their son and daughter-in-law. Prasad also cited his financial problems, while speaking with reporters.
He said, "We married them off in 2016 with a lot of hope that we would see grandchildren soon. My wife is on medication. We treated our daughter-in-law like our daughter. There were fights. She didn't visit us. We used to request that we would bring the child up. We would be happy with a grandson or granddaughter. It's our misfortune that we don't have grandchildren."
Prasad added, "I spent all my money on my son. I sent my son to America for training. I gave him a lot of money even after he came back. I don't have any money now. I spent all my money on my son. We have made a claim of Rs 2.5 crore each against our son and daughter-in-law. We spent our life savings on him."

The dharma sansad, or religious assembly had been held between December 17 and 19 last year, and allegedly saw speeches exhorting violence against the Muslim community.
 The petitioners have claimed that no action apart from filing of an FIR has been taken.
 As videos of the speeches did the rounds on social media, the Uttarakhand police filed an FIR against one person - Waseem Rizvi who has converted to Hinduism and calls himself Jitendra Tyagi now. In one instance, a single phone number was used to register over 50 people while one antigen test kit, which is meant for single use, was shown to have tested 700 samples, the report said.
Covid negative reports were issued under fictional names and addresses. Almost 530 samples were taken from &lsquo;House Number 5&rsquo; in Haridwar, the TOI report has quoted an an official as saying.
Further, 200 sample collectors employed by the private agency turned out to be students in Rajasthan who never visited Haridwar during the period, the report added. Officials have said that two labs are also under the scanner for the fraud.
