At least eight people were burnt alive and more than 20 were injured when a moving bus caught fire near Tauru in Haryana's Nuh district in the early hours of Saturday, police said.
The incident occurred around 2 am on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway. The bus was carrying around 60 people, all of whom were residents of Punjab and Chandigarh and were returning from Mathura-Vrindavan, police said.
Locals noticed the fire, chased the bus and asked the driver to stop. They also informed the police and the fire department.
Eight people were killed and more than 20 were injured in the fire. The injured were rushed to the hospital, police said.

Jannayak Janta Party leader and former Haryana deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala on May 9 wrote the governor seeking a floor test to see if Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has the majority to run the government.
In a letter to the governor, Chautala said that his party is ready to back any political party for the government formation. The move comes after three independent MLAs withdrew their support to the ruling BJP.
"It is evident that the BJP govt in Haryana no longer commands a majority," former Deputy Chief Minister and JJP leader Dushyant Chautala said in his letter to the governor on Wednesday.
In his letter, Chautala urged the Governor to direct appropriate authority to immediately call for a floor test.
BJP's former ally Jannayak Janata Party told reporters on Wednesday that it is ready to help the Congress bring down the BJP government in Haryana, a day after three Independent MLAs withdrew support to the ruling party.
However, Chief Minister Saini asserted that his government was not in trouble.
His predecessor and party colleague M L Khattar also claimed that many MLAs are in touch with the BJP and there is "nothing to worry about".
Independent MLAs Sombir Sangwan (Dadri), Randhir Singh Gollen (Pundri) and Dharampal Gonder (Nilokheri) withdrew support yo the ruling BJP in Haryana and announced that they would back the Congress.
The BJP has currently 40 MLAs, shy of the majority mark of 45 in the now 88-member House.

Law enforcement agencies have seized about Rs 37 crore in drugs, liquor, unaccounted for cash, and other valubles in Haryana since the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections came into effect on March 16.
The Election Commission along with other enforcement agencies are continuously keeping a strict vigil on the movement of illicit liquor, drugs, and cash, Chief Electoral Officer, Anurag Agarwal said on Tuesday.
Till now, Rs 7.24 crore in cash has been seized. Apart from this, illicit liquor, drugs, and other valuables worth Rs 30.05 crore have also been seized, he said, according to an official statement.
The figure is much higher than the value of items seized in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections of 2014 and 2019, it said.
Among the seizures was 3.87 lakh litres of illicit liquor and narcotics worth Rs 12.55 crore.
Agarwal said that in the 2014 assembly elections, contraband worth Rs 7 crore, consisted of Rs 3.10 crore cash, illicit liquor worth Rs 2.69 crore, and narcotics worth Rs 1.21 crore, were seized.
During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, seizure worth Rs 18.36 were made.
The seizures comprised Rs 2.74 crore cash, illicit liquor worth Rs 6.23 crore, and narcotics worth Rs 9.38 crore, said Agarwal.
He said that during the Assembly Elections 2019, Rs 5.17 crore cash, illicit liquor worth Rs 9.73 crore, and drugs worth Rs 3.27 crore was seized.
Voting for all 10 parliamentary seats in Haryana will be held on May 25 in the sixth phase of elections.&nbsp;

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Agarwal on Thursday said that financial assistance under ex-gratia would be provided to the families of polling or security personnel in case of death or permanent disability due to any event of violent incidents during the election duty.
"In the unfortunate events of violent incidents, bomb blasts, terrorist attacks or shootings leading to the death of personnel, the family will receive Rs 30 lakh," said Agarwal, according to an official statement.
"Similarly, for other reasons causing death during duty, Rs 15 lakh will be provided and in case of permanent disability of the employee due to attack by anti-social elements...in case of loss of eyesight or limbs, a financial assistance of Rs 7.5 lakh will be extended to the family member," he added.
Agarwal chaired a review meeting regarding the ex-gratia policy for the employees engaged in the election duty for the Lok Sabha elections in the state, where polling for all the 10 seats will be held in the sixth phase of elections on May 25.
"The assistance amount will be in addition to any compassion amount provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the state government or other employers," he said.
Agarwal said the responsibility of initiating the process of the ex-gratia funds will be of the district election officer and the superintendent of police and it will have to be started within ten days from the date of the incident of death, disability etc. of the employee.
The office of the chief electoral officer will have to ensure disposal of the related case within one month.

Global lifestyle brand Swiss Military on Friday said it will set up its first fully owned manufacturing unit in India in Haryana with an initial investment of Rs 56.5 crore.
The company plans to set up its first fully owned manufacturing unit for luggage and travel gear in Faridabad, Haryana, Swiss Military Consumer Goods Ltd said in a statement.
Spread over 1.21 acres and a built-up area of about 85,000 sq ft, the proposed plant will have a production capacity of 10 lakh pieces per year, it added.
The targeted completion for the manufacturing unit will be within 8 months by Dec 31, 2024 at an initial investment of Rs 56.50 crore, the company said.
"Our own manufacturing capabilities will help establish Swiss Military's commitment to modernisation within the travel gear sector in the Indian market and to shorten go-to-market timelines with new products," Swiss Military Consumer Goods Ltd Managing Director Anuj Sawhney said.
He further said, "It will also significantly bolster our position in the competitive global travel gear market. We trust that this new facility will be a cornerstone in our journey towards sustained growth and leadership in the industry." He appealed to the youth across the state, including those who will vote for the first time, saying that when the youth engage with the electoral process, they will understand the power of democracy and the importance of their vote.
He said that the voter turnout in Haryana was recorded at 70 per cent in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. However, this time our goal is to take it to at least 75 per cent, he said.
Notably, several unique initiatives have been undertaken by the state election department, including launching the 'Voters- in-Queue' app, sending polling invitations to voters akin to wedding invitations, and setting up 31 polling booths in the multi-storey societies of Gurugram.

The aim this time is to achieve a minimum of 75 percent voter turnout in the state.

When he and his friend Vedant intervened, they beat them up as well. &nbsp;"After this, the main accused Harender, a resident of Ateli Begpur village drove his vehicle and hit us, intending to kill us," Dharmender alleged in his complaint.
During the incident, Vedpal was allegedly dragged for about 50 meters by the vehicle. The crowd nearby tried to chase the accused, but they managed to flee, he said. &nbsp;"Vedpal got fractures in his spine, hands and legs and is being treated in a private hospital in Rewari," Dharmender said in his complaint.
Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered at Khol police station against the Harender and nine others under sections 148 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, Sub-Inspector Surender Singh said. &nbsp;The incident was captured in a CCTV camera installed at an auto spare parts shop nearby.
"We are trying to identify the other accused with the help of CCTV footage and are conducting raids to nab the accused," he said.&nbsp;
