After a successful women's international red-ball season at home, the BCCI is mulling reviving the longer format at the domestic level.&nbsp; And if things go as per plan, a women's domestic red-ball tournament could begin soon after the conclusion of the Women's Premier League in March 2024.&nbsp; On January 14, the Indian Express reported quoting a BCCI official, 'It will be a three-day tournament to start with. Due to the constraint of time we are thinking of starting with zonal format initially. The tournament will be concluded in the month of March-April.'&nbsp; The official went on to add that since there is no red-ball cricket for the women's team at present, the Indian board felt it is time to start days cricket as well as domestic cricket for them.&nbsp; After beginning with the zonal format, the report further stated that the BCCI might consider having a women's tournament similar to the men's Ranji Trophy.&nbsp; India has not had a women's domestic red-ball tournament since 2018.&nbsp;

After Titas Sadhu&rsquo;s career-best figures of four for 17 helped India dismiss Australia for a mere 141, openers Smriti Mandhana (54) and Shafali Verma (64 not out off 44 balls) tore into the visitors with a 137-run stand to deliver an outstanding win for their side at the DY Patil Stadium.
Having missed the last two ODIs against Australia, Shafali stroked her way to her fifth half-century in T20Is, smashing six fours and three sixes with commanding strokes all around the park.
Mandhana too was in her elements, hitting her 27th overall and seventh against Australia, a knock studded with seven fours and a six.
The openers separated only when they were one hit away from getting over the line, but not before etching India&rsquo;s second-best stand for the first wicket.
India finished the match in 17.4 overs, and it was also their biggest win over Australia by margin of wickets.
It was also only the third time Australia lost a T20I by this margin.
Putting their best fielding effort across all matches this home season, India not only showed remarkable improvement but remained clinical throughout to not allow Australia even a sniff.
Sadhu was not the only Indian to enjoy the high of an individual milestone, for she produced the second-best figures for any Indian bowler in T20Is against Australia after Jhulan Goswami&rsquo;s 5 for 11 over a decade ago.
Mandhana became only the second Indian batter after skipper Harmanpreet Kaur&mdash;and sixth overall in women&rsquo;s T20Is&mdash;to have crossed the 3,000-run mark.
The victory at the start of this three-match rubber also sets up India Women perfectly to have a crack at a series win&mdash;something they have never done at home against Australia.
For that matter, India have only beaten Australia once in a bilateral T20I series, emerging as a 2-1 winner on their 2015-16 tour.
Chasing a modest 142, India made quite an eccentric start, logging in 14 runs in the first over but none coming off the bat.
Australian seamer Darcie Brown peppered most of her deliveries down the leg, with two brushing Mandhana&rsquo;s pads to run down the boundary ropes while one beating everyone on its way for four byes.
Shafali immaculately cracked a four-through cover off Megan Schutt off the first ball she faced.
Mandhana too cashed in on a short ball from Annabel Sutherland to smack it over midwicket for the first six of the innings to get going.

Sadhu returned 3-0-8-3 in her first spell in the powerplay, accounting for Beth Mooney (17), Tahlia McGrath (0), and Ashleigh Gardner (0).
The 19-year-old right-arm pacer then returned for her final over&mdash;the 18th of the innings&mdash;and found further success dismissing Annabel Sutherland (12) for her fourth scalp.
Having topped the batting chart in the ODIs, the left-handed Litchfield carried her form into the shortest format but fell short of a fifty. She smoked three sixes and four fours to make 49 from 32 balls.
Perry struck two fours and as many sixes to make 37 off 30 balls and was one of the two dismissals for Deepti, who showed great control.
The only blip for India, however, came in the 12th over when a mistimed reverse sweep off Litchfield&rsquo;s bat fell between Renuka Singh Thakur and Jemimah Rodrigues, with both fielders ending up looking at each other.

Four deliveries later, Vastrakar produced a jaffa to remove Ellyse Perry (4) and reduced Australia to 7/2 inside the first two overs.
Tahlia McGrath (50 off 56 balls, 8x4s) came out firing on all cylinders to put pressure back on India. McGrath was severe on anything that had width, racing to her third fifty in five Tests with eight fours.
While making the bulk of runs during her 80-run stand with Mooney for the third wicket, McGrath also set herself up for a big score. But an error in judgement made her pay heavily, and it also opened the floodgates for India.&nbsp;
Ashleigh Gardner (11) was Vastrakar&rsquo;s fourth victim as she meekly played one outside the off stump to be caught behind. But Australia&rsquo;s tail produced a good fightback to take them past 200.
Jonassen and Garth took their time collecting runs as their 30-run partnership came off 93 balls, while Lauren Cheatle (6) also hung around to ensure Australia put a reasonable total on the board.

Deepti Sharma played the enforcer's role to perfection for the second time in as many days as the dominant India Women scripted a historic 347-run victory over England on the third day of the one-off Test here on Saturday.
India set in motion the hunt for triumph while declaring their second innings closed at the overnight score of 186 for 6, leaving England to climb a huge mountain of 479 runs in their second innings.
The Indian bowlers led by off-spinner Deepti Sharma (4/32) and pacer Pooja Vastrakar (3/23) then bundled out England for 131 to celebrate a victory which now stands as the biggest in terms of runs in the history of women&rsquo;s Test cricket, bettering Sri Lanka&rsquo;s 309-run victory over Pakistan in April 1998.
It was also India's first win over England at home in 15 Tests, having beaten them in away games twice in 2014, giving them a big boost ahead of the one-off Test against Australia starting here next week.
Over the course of the last three days the Indians did not show any rust of not having played Test cricket in two years, and a first at home after nine years, while being at their ruthless best.
But for all that slew of records, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side should thank Deepti (8-2-32-4) who was in her elements after that sensational 5 for seven in the first innings, as England lacked gumption to fight even on a pitch that appeared to be far more gentle.
India did not have to wait for long for the first breakthrough this morning.
It came in the form of Tammy Beaumont (17) with pacer Renuka Singh moving the ball in from outside the off to knock down her off-stump.
England sunk deeper after suffering twin blows in Vastrakar&rsquo;s first over. Sophie Dunkley (15) played one straight into the hands of substitute Harleen Deol at gully.
Vastrakar then dealt England a body blow when she cleaned up first-innings star Nat Sciver-Brunt for a first-ball duck, getting the ball to nip back in and passing it through between the bat and the pad.

England&rsquo;s misery continued when Wyatt edged a delivery to the first slip for Deepti's first wicket in the innings after making 12.
Deepti then had Amy Jones (5) pulling one straight to short midwicket, and in her seventh over of the innings, the 26-year-old hit the timber twice to dismiss Kate Cross (16) and Lauren Filer (0).
While Deepti narrowly missed taking 10 wickets in the game to become the first Indian Women&rsquo;s player to do so, Rajeshwari Gayakwad (2/20) enjoyed some success.
The left-arm spinner had her first success in the form of Sophie Ecclestone (10) when the batter went for a sweep and missed to connect, while Lauren Bell (8) was caught by Jemimah Rodrigues at silly point for the final wicket of the game.
It was a perfect outing for India also given that all their debutants in the game &mdash; Shubha Satheesh, Rodrigues and Renuka &mdash; tasted success, but there also was a dampener in the form of Shubha missing the action on the second and the third day owing to a fractured finger.
