The Israeli Prime Minister's Office shared an update on social media, stating, "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke this evening with US President-elect Donald Trump and thanked him for his help in advancing the hostages' release and for supporting Israel in bringing an end to the suffering of the hostages and their families." The post continued, "The Prime Minister emphasized his commitment to returning all hostages and commended President-elect Trump for his remarks that the US would collaborate with Israel to ensure Gaza is not a safe haven for terrorism. The two leaders decided to meet soon in Washington to discuss this and other pressing issues."
Netanyahu also expressed gratitude to President Biden for his assistance in advancing the hostage deal, with the Prime Minister&rsquo;s Office adding, "Prime Minister Netanyahu then spoke with US President Joe Biden and thanked him for his help in advancing the hostages deal."
In response to the ceasefire announcement, Trump shared his thoughts on social media, emphasizing the role his administration's victory played in facilitating the deal.
"This epic ceasefire agreement could have only happened as a result of our historic victory in November, as it signaled to the world that my administration would pursue peace and negotiate deals to ensure the safety of all Americans and our allies," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "I am thrilled that American and Israeli hostages will return home to be reunited with their families and loved ones."&nbsp;
He also remarked, "We have achieved so much without even being in the White House. Just imagine what we will accomplish once I return to the White House, and my administration is fully confirmed to secure more victories for the United States."
Trump praised the efforts of his National Security team, led by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and emphasized the importance of maintaining "peace through strength" in the region.&nbsp;
"With this deal in place, my National Security team, through the efforts of Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, will continue to work closely with Israel and our allies to ensure Gaza never becomes a terrorist sanctuary. President Biden also acknowledged the difficulty of negotiating the deal. "The road to this deal has not been easy. I have worked in foreign policy for decades - this has been one of the toughest negotiations I have ever experienced. And we reached this point because of the pressure Israel put on Hamas, backed by the United States," Biden said when announcing the deal, which aims to end over 15 months of conflict.&nbsp;
The agreement includes a full ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and the release of hostages, including Americans.

US President Joe Biden urged Americans Wednesday to stand guard against a "dangerous" oligarchy forming under Donald Trump as he delivered a dark farewell address before stepping down next week.
In a primetime speech from the Oval Office at the end of his single term in office, he warned of an ultra-wealthy "tech industrial complex" that he said could gain unchecked power over the American people.
"Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms," the 82-year-old Democrat said.
Biden began his speech by touting the legacy of his four years in office, saying it may take time to feel the benefits but that the "seeds were planted" for Americans in the future.
But he soon turned to painting a series of dangers that he said were facing the United States, which clearly referred to billionaire Trump's close ties to the world's richest man, Elon Musk, and other tech tycoons.
Biden warned there was a "dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a very few ultra-wealthy people" with "dangerous consequences if their abuse of power is left unchecked."

He then lashed out at social media firms, with Musk having turned X into a right-wing megaphone and Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg ending fact-checking operations in the US as he courts Trump.
"Americans are being buried under an avalanche of misinformation and disinformation," said Biden.
"The free press is crumbling. Editors are disappearing. Social media is giving up on fact checking. The truth is smothered by lies told for power and for profit."
He recalled a stark warning issued by president Dwight Eisenhower in his own farewell address in 1961 about the dangers of an out-of-control military industrial complex.
"I'm equally concerned about the potential rise of a tech industrial complex," he said.
With Trump planning to roll back US commitments to reduce global warming, Biden further warned that "powerful forces" threatened his climate achievements.
He also cautioned over the rise of AI, saying that America must take the lead over China on the transformative technology.
Biden finished by sounding a valedictory tone at the end of a 50-year political career that has seen the former senator mount several failed presidential bids before becoming Barack Obama's vice president, and finally rising to the top himself.
"It's been the highest honor of my life to lead you as commander in chief," said Biden.
Signing off as Trump returns for a second term on Monday, Biden told Americans: "Now it's your turn to stand guard."

Biden's efforts got a boost earlier Wednesday when Israel and Hamas agreed to a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal, with Biden hailing rare cooperation with Trump's team to reach an accord.
But Biden's legacy was badly damaged by his decision to run for a second term despite his age.
The Democrat was forced to drop out of the race last June after a disastrous debate against Trump, 78, who went on to a commanding victory over Harris.
Polls show Biden remains an unpopular president. A CNN poll published Wednesday showed him with a 36 percent approval rating, remaining at the lowest of his term.
That puts him above Trump, who left office with a 34 percent approval rating, according to the American Presidency Project. The lowest in recent times was Richard Nixon with 24 percent while the highest was Bill Clinton with 66 percent, followed by Barack Obama with 59 percent."

"The future USS William J. Clinton (CVN 82) and the future USS George W. Bush (CVN 83) will begin construction in the years ahead," Biden said in a statement issued just a week before he is replaced in office by Donald Trump.
"When complete, they will join the most capable, flexible, and professional Navy that has ever put to sea," Biden said.
The United States has a long tradition of naming some of its aircraft carriers -- massive warships that are crewed by thousands of sailors and carry dozens of planes -- after former presidents.
The latest line of US carriers is named for Gerald R. Ford, and another of the multi-billion-dollar ships bears John F. Kennedy's name -- the second time he has been honored in that way.
Clinton -- who did not serve in the military -- was president from 1993 to 2001, a period that saw US warplanes carry out strikes in Iraq and Yugoslavia, and American troops battle Somali militiamen in the infamous Black Hawk Down incident, among other conflicts.
Bush, who served as a pilot in the Air National Guard, held America's highest office from 2001 to 2009.

The electric vehicle -- made by the company owned by Trump backer Elon Musk -- pulled up to the Trump International Hotel's glass entrance before a "large explosion," Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill told reporters.
Video footage shows the stainless steel truck parked at the hotel entrance before bursting into flames, followed by smaller explosions that appeared similar to fireworks.
McMahill said there was "one deceased individual inside the Cybertruck," while seven people received "minor" injuries. He said the hotel had been evacuated.
He told a later news conference that the back of the truck contained gasoline and camping fuel canisters, as well as "large firework mortars."
McMahill also said the fact that it was a Cybertruck "really limited the damage... because it had most of the blast go up through the truck and out," noting that the glass doors of the hotel, just a few feet away, "were not even broken by that blast."
Biden said authorities were probing "any possible connection with the attack in New Orleans."
"Thus far, there's nothing to report on that score," he said.
FBI agent Jeremy Schwartz described the Las Vegas blast as "an isolated incident."
He said that an FBI joint terrorism task force was conducting the investigation with two main goals -- to confirm the identity of the "subject involved in this incident" and to determine "whether this was an act of terrorism or not."

There had been indications that the suspect in the New Orleans attack had been inspired by the Islamic State group, Biden said.
McMahill said they had "no indication" so far that the blast in Las Vegas had any similar links to the jihadist group.
However, he added: "It's a Tesla truck, and we know Elon Musk is working with President-elect Trump, and it's the Trump tower."
"So there's obviously things to be concerned about there and that's something we continue to look at," McMahill said.
Musk, who backed Trump in the November election and was named by the Republican to head up a commission to trim government spending, said in a post on his social media platform X that the explosion was "unrelated to the vehicle itself."
He said earlier the "whole Tesla senior team" was investigating the blast, adding: "We've never seen anything like this."
The truck had been rented in Colorado through the carsharing company Turo, police said -- the same app that was used to rent the vehicle in the New Orleans attack.
McMahill said that was a "coincidence... that we have to continue to look in to."
A spokesperson for the app, used by millions of people in the United States, said they were working with law enforcement, but that neither renter "had a criminal background that would have identified them as a security threat."

In a statement, Biden said the new assistance will provide Ukraine with "an immediate influx of capabilities that it continues to use to great effect on the battlefield and longer-term supplies of air defense, artillery, and other critical weapons systems."
Nearly three years into the war, Washington has committed $175 billion in total aid for Ukraine, but it is uncertain if the aid will continue at that pace under Trump, who replaces Biden on Jan. 20. Trump has said he wants to bring the war to a swift end.
During the presidential election campaign, Trump questioned the level of U.S. involvement in the conflict, suggesting European allies should bear more of the financial burden.

The security situation in Bangladesh has been difficult following the ouster of the former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby said.
"And we have been working closely with the interim government to enhance the capability of their law enforcement and security services to deal with the challenge," Kirby said at a news conference on Thursday.
Hasina was ousted as prime minister in the face of a massive anti-government protest in August.
There have been a spate of incidents of violence against Hindus and other minorities, as well as attacks on temples in the last few weeks in Bangladesh.
"We&rsquo;ve been very clear in our engagement with all Bangladeshi leaders that protection of religious and ethnic minorities is absolutely critical, and the leaders of the interim government have repeatedly committed to providing security to all Bangladeshis, regardless of religion or ethnicity," he said.
"We want to hold them to that," Kirby said in response to a question.
Over the past few weeks, Indian Americans have held peaceful protests and marches in several cities, including in front of the White House, in Chicago, New York, SFO, Detroit, Houston and Atlanta, urging Biden to help stop alleged brutalities against the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh.
Earlier in the day, Indian-American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi urged members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to address the issue of violence against minorities, primarily Hindus, in Bangladesh during the confirmation hearing of Senator Marco Rubio for the position of secretary of state.
President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Senator Rubio for the top diplomatic position. The date of his confirmation hearing has not been announced yet.
"As targeted violence against Hindus and other minorities continues amid the disorder in Bangladesh, I urge the members of the Senate's Committee on Foreign Relations to address this crisis directly during the upcoming hearings to confirm Senator Rubio as the next US secretary of state," Krishnamoorthi said.
Over the weekend, a large number of Indian-Americans held a march from the White House to the US Capitol over alleged attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh.
Raising slogans like &ldquo;We want Justice&rdquo; and &ldquo;Protect Hindus&rdquo;, the demonstrators urged the Biden administration and the incoming Trump administration to ask the new government in Bangladesh to take steps to protect Hindus and also initiate action against those responsible for this.
"The Bangladeshi Hindu community and the larger Hindu diaspora from the Indian subcontinent have come in support of the Bangladesh Hindu community because there is continuing violence going on in Bangladesh, specifically in Chittagong and Rangpur area, as well as in some other parts of the country," said Utsav Chakrabarti of HinduACTion.

This was the largest single-day act of clemency in recent times.
In December 2012, Dr Meera Sachdeva was sentenced to 20 years in prison and ordered to repay nearly USD8.2 million for fraud at a former Mississippi cancer centre she ran. She is now 63.
Babubhai Patel was sentenced to 17 years on 26 convictions for a healthcare fraud conspiracy, a drug conspiracy, and related fraud and drug violations in 2013.
Also in 2013, Krishna Mote, 54, was sentenced to serve life in prison after he was convicted of conspiracy to distribute more than 280 grams of crack cocaine and more than 500 grams of cocaine, and distribution of crack cocaine as an aider and abettor.
Vikram Dutta, 63, was in January 2012 sentenced in a Manhattan federal court to 235 months in prison after he was found guilty of conspiracy charges stemming from his use of his perfume distribution business to launder millions of dollars for a Mexican narcotics organisation.

"I have heard the concerns that people have &mdash; their good faith fears and worries about what is at stake in this selection. I am not blind to them,&rdquo; 81-year-old Biden wrote in the letter to the Democratic lawmakers in the US Congress.
&ldquo;I can respond to all this by saying clearly and unequivocally: I wouldn&rsquo;t be running again if I did not absolutely believe I was the best person to beat Donald Trump in 2024,&rdquo; asserted the president, who after his June 27 disastrous debate performance has been receiving calls to drop out of the race.
Biden has insisted that he is in the race and he will not give up.
So far only a small section of the Democratic leadership have asked him to leave the race to the presidency.
A majority of the party leadership has been supporting him so far. He has conceded that it was a bad night, but insists that one 90-minute debate cannot wash away his three-and-half years of performance that revived the economy, reduced unemployment and restored America&rsquo;s position in the world.
The incumbent president said that millions of Democratic party members had voted in his favour during the primaries and asked the Democratic lawmakers if they would suggest that the process did not matter by urging him to step aside.
&ldquo;I decline to do that. I feel a deep obligation to the faith and the trust the voters of the Democratic Party have placed in me to run this year. It was their decision to make. Not the press, not the pundits, not the big donors, not any selected group of individuals, no matter how well-intentioned,&rdquo; he said.
&ldquo;The voters &ndash; and the voters alone &ndash; decide the nominee of the Democratic Party. How can we stand for democracy in our nation if we ignore it in our own party? I cannot do that. I will not do that,&rdquo; he said.
&ldquo;The question of how to move forward has been well-aired for over a week now. And it&rsquo;s time for it to end. We have one job. And that is to beat Donald Trump. Any weakening of resolve or lack of clarity about the task ahead only helps Trump and hurts us,&rdquo; Biden wrote.

On Sunday, at least five Democratic lawmakers expressed their view on Sunday that President Joe Biden should step down from the US presidential election scheduled for November 5, according to multiple news reports.
The lawmakers -- Jerry Nadler, Mark Takano, Joe Morelle, Ted Lieu and Adam Smith -- expressed their view in this regard during a Democratic Party phone call organised to discuss Biden's disastrous debate performance against Trump, in Atlanta on June 27.
Biden's approval ratings have come down and his own party colleagues have started questioning his health and ability to govern the country for the next four years. Biden has asserted that he is staying in the race and exuded confidence that he will win the election against Trump in November.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries had convened a virtual meeting of his party colleagues in the House of Representatives to discuss the evolving political scenarios after the June 27 presidential debate between Biden and Trump.
The virtual meeting was billed as a "listening session" to get inputs from members about the viability of Biden's candidacy, "The New York Times" reported, adding that it was clear before the call that many top Democrats felt strongly that Biden had to go.
Congressman Smith, the ranking member of the Armed Services Committee, said it is time for Biden to go, according to two people familiar with the call, the daily reported. The four other Congressmen also felt the same and believed it was time for Biden to exit the race.
"Lieu was the highest-ranking person in the House Democratic leadership to support pressing for Biden to not seek reelection," "The Washington Post" reported.
"The developments opened a wide crack in Biden's wall of support, bringing the number of House Democrats publicly or privately saying he should step aside to about 10. They included the top Democrats on the Judiciary, Armed Services and Intelligence committees. The defections cast further doubts on Biden's path forward, even as he largely controls his own fate thanks to sweeping the Democratic presidential primaries," "The Wall Street Journal" reported.

James Clyburn, a South Carolina Democrat whose support in that state helped Biden secure the Democratic nomination four years ago, said he would likely speak to Biden later Friday and his message would be simple: &ldquo;Stay the course.&rdquo; Biden and his team have long wagered that voters would look past their concerns about his age and unpopularity when confronted at the ballot box with a choice between the president and Trump. Despite their concerns about Biden's performance, they took solace in Trump doing little to expand his own appeal to voters on Thursday.
Polls from CNN and 538/Ipsos conducted soon after the debate found that most debate-watchers thought Trump outperformed Biden. But the two men's favorability ratings remained largely unchanged, just as they did in the aftermath of Trump's conviction.
Democrats seized on Trump's equivocations on whether he would accept the will of voters this time around, his refusal to condemn the rioters who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, trying to overturn his 2020 loss to Biden, and his embrace of the conservative-leaning Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade that had legalized abortion nationwide.
But Biden fumbled on abortion rights, one of the most important issues for Democrats in this year's election. He was unable to explain Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion nationwide. A conservative Supreme Court with three justices nominated by Trump overturned Roe two years ago.
As elected Democrats united behind Biden publicly, donors and party operatives shared panicked text messages and phone calls Thursday night and into Friday expressing their concern that Biden's performance was so bad that he may be unelectable this fall.
Among the few public Democratic voices calling on Biden to step aside was congressional candidate Nancy Boyda in Kansas, who broke with most in her party and called on Biden to suspend his campaign and retire at the end of his current term.
But there were no immediate signs of organized efforts among donors, his campaign leadership or the Democratic National Committee to convince the president to step aside, according to interviews with several people who spoke on the condition of anonymity to share sensitive conversations.
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat frequently mentioned as a 2028 contender and speculated about as a potential replacement for Biden, released a statement backing him on Friday.
&ldquo;The difference between Joe Biden's vision for making sure everyone in America has a fair shot and Donald Trump's dangerous, self-serving plans will only get sharper as we head toward November,&rdquo; she said.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom also dismissed questions on whether he would consider stepping in for Biden, telling reporters, &ldquo;I will never turn my back on him.&rdquo; Under current Democratic Party rules, it would be difficult, if not impossible, to replace Biden as the party's nominee without his cooperation or without party officials being willing to rewrite the rules at the August national convention.
