Indian-American schoolgirl Natasha Perianayagam was named the "world&rsquo;s brightest&rdquo; student for the second consecutive year by the US-based Johns Hopkins Center For Talented Youth, based on the results of above-grade-level tests of over 15,000 students across 76 countries.
Perianayagam, 13, is a student at Florence M Gaudineer Middle School, in New Jersey.
She also took the Johns Hopkins Center For Talented Youth (CTY) test in Spring 2021, when she was a Grade 5 student.
Her results in the verbal and quantitative sections levelled with the 90th percentile of advanced Grade 8 performance, which catapulted her into the honours list that year.
This year, she was honoured for her exceptional performance on the SAT, ACT, School and College Ability Test, or similar assessment taken as part of the CTY Talent Search, the university said in a press release on Monday.
Perianayagam, whose parents hail from Chennai, said she loves doodling and reading JRR Tolkien's novels in her spare time.

CTY used above-grade-level testing to identify advanced students from around the world and provide a clear picture of their academic abilities.
According to the university release, Perianayagam was among the 15,300 students from 76 countries who joined CTY in the 2021-22 Talent Search year.
Less than 27 per cent of those participants qualified for the CTY ceremony, receiving either high or grand honours based on their test scores.
In her latest attempt, Perianayagam scored the highest grades among all candidates.
"This is not just recognition of our students' success on one test, but a salute to their love of discovery and learning, and all the knowledge they have accumulated in their young lives so far," said CTY's executive director Dr. Amy Shelton.
"It is exciting to think about all the ways in which they will use that potential to discover their passions, engage in rewarding and enriching experiences, and achieve remarkable things -- in their communities and in the world," she added.

To use the tape, one needs to remove a strip from the sheet, add some water to it, and affix it to the wrap. 
The team further said that is flavorless, gluten-free, and vegan.
Though the team has not yet disclosed the formula they used for the edible adhesive strips, because they're currently applying for a patent but many can't wait for this game changer idea.

Dr Michael Ryan, speaking at a meeting of the WHO&rsquo;s 34-member executive board focusing on&nbsp;Covid-19, said the figures vary from urban to rural, and between different groups, but that ultimately it means &ldquo;the vast majority of the world remains at risk.&rdquo;
The estimates&nbsp;stated by Ryan would amount to more than 760 million people based on the current world population of about 7.6 billion. This figure is far more than the number of confirmed cases as tallied by both WHO and Johns Hopkins University, now more than 35 million worldwide.

According to a rolling tally by Johns Hopkins University, 1,99,743 Americans have died and 68 lakh have been confirmed infected by the virus. The worrying Covid numbers come just weeks before voters decide if President Donald Trump will stay in office. The US has had the world's highest official death count for months, ahead of Brazil and India, with close to 1.4 lakh and 88,000 deaths respectively.

The global coronavirus death toll has passed another milestone, exceeding 8,90,000 deaths&nbsp;as confirmed by researchers at Johns Hopkins University.
The caseload stands at more than 27.2 million worldwide.&nbsp;The United States remains at the top of the chart in terms of the cases and deaths, with 6,296,629 cases and 189,114 deaths, accounting for more than 20% of the global deaths.
India is at the second spot, with over 42,04,613 cases.
Brazil recorded 126,650 deaths, while other countries with over 30,000 fatalities include Mexico, Britain, Italy, and France.
