The Indian security agencies killed the third terrorist during a fresh encounter in Kulgam on May 8. The Kashmir Zone Police said on social media X that the third terrorist was neutralised and his identity was being ascertained. &nbsp;
"The third terrorist was neutralised in the Kulgam encounter. The identity of the terrorist is being ascertained. Further details shall follow: Kashmir Zone Police," it said on X.
It comes a day after two terrorists were gunned down during a combing operation. According to reports, one of the terrorists killed was the commander of &nbsp;The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the Lashkar-e-Taiba.
He was identified as Basit Dar, an "A" category terrorist who belonged to The Resistance Front (TRF), according to Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, V K Birdhi, reports PTI news agency.
He said security forces got inputs about the movement of terrorists in Redwani village following which a cordon and search operation was launched there on Monday night.
"There was firing from the other side," he told reporters in Kulgam.
Birdhi said the terrorists were given an opportunity to surrender, but they continued their firing on the security personnel.
"Two terrorists have been killed in this operation and their bodies have been retrieved, but the search operation is going on," he said.
Describing Dar's killing as a significant achievement, Birdhi said he was involved in 18 cases including in Srinagar city.
"He was involved in the killing of police personnel and innocent civilians.He was involved in planning and carrying out attacks including on minority community members," the IGP added.
In 2022, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced a bounty of Rs 10 lakh on Dar.&nbsp;

Aqib had completed engineering from a college in Chandigarh and joined militant ranks soon after.

They said the encounter happened after the police launched a cordon and search operation in Khandipora area of the south Kashmir district following a specific input about the presence of terrorists there. He said the search operation turned into an encounter after the hiding terrorists fired upon the forces.

Only when my husband was in the hospital, I saw how the Army takes care of their soldiers. So I decided to join the Army and my husband's Mahar Regiment helped. I want to tell the wives of other martyrs that we should live in a way that our children don't need to take anyone else as their inspiration," she said.
Soon after losing her husband in the battle, Jyoti Nainwal prepared for the Service Selection Board exam for entry to the armed forces & cleared the test, & underwent eleven months of training at the academy in Chennai.
More than 150 cadets were commissioned on Saturday. Vice-Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen CP Mohanty was present for the passing out parade.
