A canteen owner at a theatre screening the movie "Pushpa 2: The Rule" in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior allegedly bit the ear of a man over a dispute on settling the snacks bill, police said.
The incident took place on Sunday when the victim, Shabbir, went to the canteen of Kailash Talkies in Inderganj area during the movie interval to buy food, the police said on Wednesday.
An argument broke out between Shabbir and canteen owner Raju, who accused the former of not paying money, an official said.
The heated exchange escalated into a fight with Raju and his three associates thrashing Shabbir. Raju allegedly bit one of the ears of Shabbir, as per the FIR.
The argument over the payment of food items led to the fight, Additional Superintendent of Police Niranjan Sharma said.
"The canteen owner and his three associates allegedly beat Shabbir and also bit his ear while threatening to kill him," he said.
Shabbir lodged a complaint with police on Monday. A case was registered against three persons on Tuesday based on Shabbir's medical report, he said, adding that further investigation was underway.

Madhya Pradesh minister Narayan Singh Kushwaha has advised women to ask their husbands to drink liquor in front of their family members at home instead of going outside so that they feel ashamed and slowly give up the habit of drinking.
He made the remarks while addressing a function on "de-addiction campaign" in Bhopal on Friday, a video of which also went viral on social media.
The opposition Congress, however, sought an apology from him saying his suggestion would lead to incidents of domestic violence.
Addressing the gathering, state Social Justice Minister said, "The biggest contribution in this (de-addiction efforts) is of mothers and sisters of the house. First of all, tell them (husbands) not to drink outside in the market. Tell them, if you want to drink, eat food and stay in front of me. If they drink in front of me (their wives), their limit will keep decreasing. They will gradually come on the verge of quitting. They will feel ashamed to be drinking alcohol in front of wife and children." The wives should also tell their husbands that their children will also start drinking alcohol in the future, he said.
He said the women should form a local group and show "belan" (rolling pin) to the people with drinking habits.
Talking to reporters later, the minister said that drinking liquor in front of their children at home will make the men feel ashamed and discourage to quit their habit.
The children will also tell their father not to drink, which will have a positive impact on him, he said.
Reacting to Kushwaha's statement, Congress leader Sangeeta Sharma said that by giving such advice, the minister was encouraging domestic violence.
The main reason for domestic violence is addiction and alcohol, she told reporters and claimed that more than 17,000 cases related to domestic violence caused by liquor are pending before the Madhya Pradesh Women's Commission.
The minister is encouraging women to use rolling pin against their husbands, which will lead to domestic violence, Sharma said.
The minister should seek apology for his remarks, the Congress leader added.

Following a complaint by a victim, the police launched a probe and nabbed the prime accused and his associates.&nbsp;

At least seven tribal girls were allegedly raped in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi district after the accused used a voice modulation app to pose as a female teacher and called the victims to a deserted place to discuss scholarships, said an official.
The incident was going on for a long time and it came to light when one of the victims recently lodged a police complaint at Majhauli police station in the district. The police arrested four accused, including the main accused Brijesh Prajapati (30) in the matter, the officer added.
Inspector General of Police (IG) Rewa Range, Mahendra Singh Sikarwar told ANI, "A girl lodged a complaint that a man spoke to her in a female voice and called her to meet him at a deserted place to discuss and help her to get the scholarship. The accused also told the victim that a man would meet her and would take her to the discussed location. After that, the girl reached the said location where the accused reached and violated the girl."
After the incident, the victim informed the police about the whole incident. Acting on the information, the police began an investigation and arrested the prime accused and his associates, he added.
"The accused has been identified as Brijesh Prajapati, a resident of Sidhi district. The police also took his three associates into custody and all of them were being interrogated. During interrogation, the accused admitted raping 7 girls. Of these victims, we have identified four victims and based on their statement cases have been registered against the accused," the officer said.
Further investigation in the matter is underway and further action will be taken accordingly, he added.

Sahu has complained that RK Miglani, an aide of Nath, had circulated an objectionable video of him, Kotwali police station inspector Umesh Golhani told PTI.
"We carried out questioning. Investigations are on. More details will be shared with the media later," Golhani added.
Asserting that Sahu's complaint was completely false, Miglani said, "I was not questioned by police. I was served a notice (by the police). I told them I would respond to it after the elections." Meanwhile, following the development, Kamal Nath and his son Nakul Nath, who is the sitting MP from Chhindwara and has been renominated by the Congress, rushed back to their residence in Shikarpur.
Chhindwara is a Kamal Nath bastion and the only seat the BJP failed to win in MP in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Voting is scheduled on the seat for April 19

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillor in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior district cleaned a choked sewer in his area and alleged that he complained several times but the municipal corporation did not act on it.&nbsp; Councillor from Ward 15, Devendra Rathore cleaned the sewer located in Birla Nagar in the city on Tuesday. A video of the incident also went viral on social media. Later, the municipal corporation team reached the spot and cleaned it. The team continued the cleaning activity on Wednesday as well.&nbsp; &nbsp; "There was a big sewer problem in ward number 15 and dirty water was flooding inside the houses of residents. People were facing a lot of foul smell and the matter was also brought before the council but no one paid attention to it. After this, I told the Commissioner, also requested the Mayor and raised the matter in the Council but the issue was unheard of. After that I realised I would have to solve this matter myself," Rathore told ANI.&nbsp; "People have given me the vote and I must value their vote, therefore, I cleaned the sewer as no one was listening and people are facing issues. After I did the cleaning, the Municipal Corporation employees also came and started cleaning," he added.
He further said that when he went for an inspection in his area, the municipal commissioner called him and said he shouldn't go anywhere and neither talk to officials as the Model Code of Conduct was in force.&nbsp; "The commissioner told me that I should neither go anywhere nor talk to officials as the Model Code of Conduct is in force so what option do I have? The only solution I had, I went into the sewer and cleaned it," he added.&nbsp;
Councillor Rathore also took a potshot at Mayor Sobha Sikarwar saying the municipal corporation was under the Congress and the Congress Mayor remained silent.
"The municipality here is under Congress. We have the government in the state but here we are working under the Congress' mayor Sobha Sikarwar but she remains silent," he added.&nbsp;
Nonetheless, Additional Commissioner of Gwalior Municipal Corporation, Munish Singh Sikarwar said that wherever sewer-related problems arose, they were resolved immediately.&nbsp;
"Wherever sewer-related problems arise, they are being resolved immediately. In that ward too, work was being done by the Municipal Corporation next to the sewer. If such information was received, it would also have been resolved," Sikarwar said.&nbsp;

A man was allegedly beaten up, forced to drink urine and wear a garland of shoes after he eloped with a married woman in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain district, prompting the police to initiate action into the incident.
Some videos of the incident went viral on social media but no complaint has been lodged by the man so far, police said.
In one of the videos, the man is seen wearing a garland of shoes and drinking a liquid, believed to be urine, from a bottle as some people shout at him and force him to consume it. He is also seen being beaten up by a woman, with whom he had allegedly eloped.
Another video showed the man licking a shoe held in his hand and being forced to put another shoe on his head.
In the clips, the man is seen with half of his moustache and parts of head shaved off.
Asked about it, Additional Superintendent of Police Nitesh Bhargava told reporters that they have taken cognisance of the video clips, which are three-four days old, and contacted the victim.
"After the videos came to the notice of the police, we proactively contacted the victim's home but he was not present there," he said.
"I have spoken to the victim over the phone and he will be meeting me. After verification of the accused and the place of the incident, legal action will be initiated," he said.
On the reason behind the incident, the official said it is not yet clear and will be confirmed after talking to the victim.
"We proactively contacted the victim but no complaint has been made so far," he said.
According to sources, the issue was about the man eloping with a married woman from the Banjara community of Bhilkhedi village under Bhatpachlana police station limits, some 75 km from the district headquarters.&nbsp;

Investigators at first suspected a 19-year-old man, who had earlier served time in prison under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, following a complaint filed by the girl last year.&nbsp;
However, the CCTV footage showed them both together.
Police said teams from the local police station and crime branch are on the lookout for the two. A scooty that is believed to be used by the the accused to flee from the crime scene has also been recovered.&nbsp;

The police have arrested the accused, Rajkumar Kol (30), for the murder that occurred at Mauhar village under Kothi police station limits on Friday night, an official said.
Rajkumar&rsquo;s brother Rakesh (35) had organised a function at his house, during which music was being played on a sound system, said Rupendra Rajput, in-charge of Kothi police station.
The victim later turned off the music, and the accused wanted to continue dancing, he said.
An argument ensued between the brothers, and in a fit of anger, Rajkumar allegedly attacked Rakesh with an axe and killed him on the spot, the official said.
The accused fled the scene and was later apprehended near a culvert where he was hiding, he said.
The accused was placed under arrest, and the weapon used in the crime was seized, the official said.

The National Student Union of India (NSUI) claimed students were informed about the rescheduling when they reached their centre for the exam on March 5.&nbsp;
The government university's registrar, Deepesh Mishra said after a complaint from the students, an explanation has been sought from the examination department.&nbsp;
Mishra said there was some error in the question paper, therefore it was not given to the students.&nbsp;
The examination for the subject will now be held on March 15 while the exams of other subjects will be held as per the schedule, he said.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, Sachin Rajak, district president of the NSUI, students' wing of the Congress, claimed that when the students reached the examination centre, the authorities told them the exam had been rescheduled.&nbsp;
Blaming the university officials for this, he said some of the students came from neighbouring districts including Narsinghpur and Katni to appear for the exam.&nbsp;
The NSUI members met the university officials in this connection on March 5.&nbsp;

The Madhya Pradesh High Court was highly critical of the practice of razing down houses of those accused in criminal cases. The court said that the civic authorities are demolishing the homes without adhering to the principles of natural justice.
"It has become fashionable now for local administration and local bodies to demolish any house by drawing up proceedings without complying with the principles of natural justice and publish it in the newspaper," the court said, according to Bar and Bench outlet.
The Indore bench of the court made these observations earlier this month while hearing a plea filed by two persons, whose houses were illegally demolished by the Ujjain Municipal Corporation. The court awarded compensation of Rs 1 lakh each.
The commissioner of the corporation informed the court that the houses owned by the first petitioner were demolished after they did not respond to the notices.
The court said that there were registered sale deeds in the name of the petitioners and that they had not approached the corporation for mutation of their name.
"Although they did not inform about the aforesaid sale to the Municipal Corporation by submitting a registered sale deed for mutation of their name, they are residing in the said house as owner" it added.

At least nine persons were killed and nearly 200 others injured in a powerful explosion and subsequent blaze at a firecrackers factory near Harda town of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, a senior official said.
Some videos of the incident surfaced on social media showing the massive fire with intermittent explosions taking place at the site and people frantically running to save themselves. They showed thick plumes of smoke coming from the factory located at Bairagarh on Magardha Road on the outskirts of Harda town, about 150km from the state capital Bhopal.
"So far, nine casualties were reported and nearly 200 others were injured in the Harda incident. The injured persons are out of danger," Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Home Sanjay Dubey told PTI.
The cause of the blast was not yet known and efforts were on to control the blaze, according to officials.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav held a meeting to take stock of the situation and said the Army was being contacted to arrange for helicopters for the rescue work.
"In the meeting, the Chief Minister directed that providing immediate treatment to the injured from the Harda accident is our top priority. Ambulances are being rushed to Harda from the surrounding areas, and the Army has been contacted to arrange for helicopters," the CMO said in a post on X "I spoke to officials concerned and sought details of the incident," Yadav said.
The Centre been informed about the tragedy, the CM added.
Yadav announced a financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the kin of each of the deceased and said the entire cost of treatment of the injured persons will be borne by the state government.
The CM directed senior minister Uday Pratap Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Ajit Kesari and Director General (Home Guards) Arvind Kumar to rush to Harda by a helicopter.

President Droupadi Murmu said she was deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the tragedy and offered condolences to the bereaved family members.
Expressing grief over the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a message posted on X, said "Distressed by the loss of lives due to the mishap at a cracker factory in Harda, Madhya Pradesh. Condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones. May those injured recover at the earliest." Modi announced Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia to the next of the kin of each of the deceased from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
"The local administration is assisting all those affected. Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured will be given Rs 50,000," he added.&nbsp;

A purported viral video of the incident shows two men hitting a man multiple times on his leg. They also vandalised the car of the young men who overtook the SDM's vehicle.&nbsp;
MP's CM Mohan Yadav shared a post on X saying that the SDM named Amit Singh has been suspended.
He said, &ldquo;The incident of assault on two youths by Bandhavgarh SDM is unfortunate. Instructions have been given to suspend the SDM. There is a good governance government in Madhya Pradesh. This kind of inhuman treatment of common people will not be tolerated at all in the state."
An FIR has been registered against the SDM along with three others for the assault. Both victims have been admitted to the district hospital.

After reports surfaced on early Saturday that 26 girls from a shelter running illegally in Bhopal have been missing, MP chief minister Mohan Yadav directed officials that action should be taken against such institutions which are operating illegally.

After reports surfaced on early Saturday that 26 girls from a shelter running illegally in Bhopal have been missing, MP chief minister Mohan Yadav directed officials that action should be taken against such institutions which are operating illegally.&nbsp;

26 girls who were reportedly missing from a shelter home running illegally in Bhopal have been located and are safe, according to reports quoting police officers.
Three officials of state's Women and Child Department have been suspended and two were issued showcause notices after the matter came to light on January 6, 2024.
The girls hailed from different states, including Gujarat, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
On Thursday, police had registered a First Information Report on the complaint of district programme officer Ramgopal Yadav against Anil Mathew for allegedly running the children's home illegally.&nbsp;

At least 12 people were killed and 14 others sustained severe burn injuries as a bus caught fire after colliding with a dumper in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday night, an official said.
The private bus collided head-on with the dumper on Guna-Aaron road, the official said, adding that the injured were rushed to the Guna district hospital for treatment.
Twelve bus passengers were killed and 14 others sustained injuries in the fire, Guna district&rsquo;s Superintendent of Police told PTI.
The ill-fated bus was on its way to Aaron while the dumper was headed towards Guna when the accident occurred at around 9 pm, police said.
The SP said there were around 30 passengers in the bus at the time of the incident and four of them somehow managed to come out of the bus and have gone home.
Guna collector Tarun Rathi said the administration is probing the incident.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed grief and announced an assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each for the injured.
The chief minister also ordered a probe into the accident.
Meanwhile, in a message on X, Union Civil Aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia termed the incident as &ldquo;painful&rdquo; and said, &ldquo;Soon after getting information about the incident, I spoke to the collector and SP and directed them to start a relief and rescue operation." Scindia also condoled the demise of the passengers.

Madhya Pradesh cabinet: BJP's OBC push, Scindia loyalists get 3 ministries   

Three ministers are Scindia supporters. In the previous Shivraj Singh Chouhan Cabinet, there were 10 Scindia loyalists.

As many as 28 legislators, including former Union minister Prahlad Patel and BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, were on Monday inducted into the Madhya Pradesh cabinet led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
A total of 18 MLAs took oath as cabinet ministers, while 10 others were sworn in as ministers of state including six with independent charge.
The new inductees were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Mangubhai Patel at a function held in Raj Bhavan here.
The new cabinet includes 17 fresh faces. While five among 28 ministers are women, 12 come from the OBC community, five are tribals and four others are from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category, a BJP functionary said. Four loyalists of Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also found a place in the new council of ministers.
Those who took oath as cabinet ministers are - Vijay Shah, Kailash Vijayvargiya, Prahlad Patel, Karan Singh Verma, Rakesh Singh, Uday Pratap Singh, Sampatia Uikey, Tulsiram Silawat, Aidal Singh Kansana, Govind Singh Rajput, Vishvas Sarang, Nirmala Bhuria, Narayan Singh Kushawaha, Nagar Singh Chouhan, Pradyumna Singh Tomar, Rakesh Shukla, Chaitanya Kashyap and Inder Singh Parmar.
The ministers of state with independent charge are Krishna Gaur, Dharmendra Bhav Lodhi, Dilip Jaiswal, Gautam Tetwal, Lakhan Patel and Narayan Singh Pawar.
The other MLAs who took oath as ministers of state are Narendra Shivaji Patel, Pratima Bagri, Dilip Ahirwar, and Radha Singh, the official said.
Five women inductees are Sampatia Uikey, Nirmala Bhuria, Krishna Gaur, Pratima Bagri and Radha Singh.
Vijayvargiya, elected as MLA from Indore-1 seat in this assembly elections, had served as a minister in the BJP government from 2004 to 2016 before he resigned to join national politics. He didn't contest the polls in 2018.
Prahlad Patel, who was serving as a Union minister before he was asked to contest elections in November, won his maiden assembly poll from the Narsinghpur seat.
BJP secretary Rajneesh Agrawal said 17 out of 28 MLAs inducted in the new cabinet are new faces. 11 others had served as ministers in Madhya Pradesh in different periods in the past.
The former ministers include Vijay Shah, Karan Singh Verma, Tulsiram Silawat, Aidal Singh Kansana, Govind Rajput, Narayan Singh Kushwaha, Vishwas Sarang, Pradyuman Singh Tomar, Inder Singh Parmar and Nirmala Bhuria, apart from Vijayvargiya.
Among them, Narayan Singh Kushwaha had served as a minister of state in the past. He had lost the previous 2018 assembly elections. Karan Singh Verma was a minister between 2004 to 2013.
The new cabinet includes four loyalists- Aidal Singh Kansana, Govind Rajput, Pradyuman Singh Tomar and Tulsiram Silavat- of Jyotiraditya Scindia. They were among the 22 MLAs of Congress who defected to the BJP leading to the collapse of the Kamal Nath government in March 2020.
The new cabinet includes 12 members of Other Backward Classes (OBCs), five from Scheduled Tribe (ST) while four belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community, Rajneesh Agrawal said.
"This is an effort to prove 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas," he added.
With the induction of 28 ministers, the total strength of the Yadav cabinet has now gone up to 31, including the chief minister and his two deputies Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Devda.
The BJP had fielded seven MPs, including three Union ministers, in the assembly elections held last month. Two of them, including Union Minister Faggan Singh Kulaste and Satna MP Ganesh Singh, faced defeat.
While former Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar has been made speaker of the MP assembly, three MPs, including Prahlad Patel, Rao Uday Pratap Singh and Rakesh Singh who won assembly polls, were inducted in the new cabinet, except former Sidhi MP Riti Pathak.
The maximum strength of the council of ministers in Madhya Pradesh, which has 230 MLAs, can be 35, including the CM.
In the state assembly elections held last month, the BJP won 163 seats and the Congress 66.
Yadav took oath as chief minister on December 13 along with Shukla and Devda who were sworn in as deputy CMs.&nbsp;

The newly-appointed Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday issued a directive prohibiting the use of loudspeakers at religious places beyond permissible decibel levels.
Holding his first cabinet meeting after taking the oath of office, he also banned the sale of meat and fish in open places.
The decision to prohibit the use of loudspeakers beyond permissible decibel limits was the first order signed by Yadav after taking charge, he told reporters after the cabinet meeting.
Guidelines for the use of loudspeakers, based on the orders of the Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal, were also issued for immediate implementation, additional chief secretary (home) Dr Rajesh Rajora told PTI.
A flying squad will be constituted in each district to monitor the sound levels of loudspeakers and DJ systems playing music at religious places, the official said.
Newly appointed deputy Chief Ministers Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Devda also took part in the cabinet meeting.
The cabinet also decided to implement the Cyber Tehsil Scheme in all 55 districts of the state from January 1, 2024, to facilitate 'Namantaran' (transfer of property title) through a single-window facility.
A campaign will be undertaken by the food department, police and local urban bodies to implement the ban on the sale of meat and fish in the open from December 15 to 31, chief minister Yadav said.
The marksheets of students all 16 government and 53 private universities of the state shall be uploaded in DigiLocker and it should be ensured that the youth get the maximum benefit under the New Education Policy, he directed.
At least one government college in each district should be upgraded as a `PM College of Excellence' with modern facilities like smart class seminar halls and hostels, the chief minister said.
To curb crime, Yadav asked police officials to ensure that if a person on bail commits a crime afresh, his bail is cancelled and he is sent to jail.
The cabinet also decided to raise the bonus for tendu patta collectors from Rs 3000 per bag to Rs 4000, as promised by the BJP in its poll manifesto.&nbsp;

A four-year-old girl who fell into a borewell in Madhya Pradesh&rsquo;s Rajgarh district on Tuesday died in a hospital in Bhopal, a few hours after her rescue early on Wednesday, a senior official said.
The child, identified as Mahi, was rescued alive around 2.45 am and was rushed to the Civil Hospital at Pachore, but her condition deteriorated en route, the official said.
The girl was then taken to the state-run Hamidia Hospital in Bhopal, about 70 km away, where she died during treatment around 6 am, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Kiran Wadia said.
The body will be handed over to the child&rsquo;s relatives after autopsy, she said.
Mahi fell into an open borewell in a field on Tuesday evening and was rescued by a team of experts who dug a parallel pit to a depth of about 25 feet.
She was stuck at 22 feet, and after connecting the two pits, she was rescued by the experts and rushed to the hospital, Rajgarh Superintendent of Police Dharmaraj Meena said.
The incident took place at Pipliya Rasoda village under Boda police station limits, he said.
Personnel from the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) had reached the spot and arrangements were made to provide oxygen inside the borewell shaft, he said.
Earlier, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had directed officials to send teams of SDERF, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to the site and asked the district administration to help in the rescue operation.
